I wanted to share a recent experience I had at Two Hands (74 Bleecker St) that has left me deeply concerned about food safety & transparency.

On May 26, 2023, I went to Two Hands Noho location and ordered the Zoe’s Market Plate. To my shock and horror, I discovered a giant cockroach in my food. It was camouflaged in the quinoa, and I had already eaten half the bowl before I discovered it.

Naturally, I wanted to warn others about this incident, so I posted a detailed & honest review on Google. But here’s the kicker: Two Hands marked my review as “fraudulent” and had it deleted! They even prevented my friend, Nicole, from sharing her similar experience. To make matters worse, they replied to another customer’s review, calling mine “fake and fraudulent” and denying that it happened at their restaurant.

I posted in the nyc subreddit and my post blew up. 20+ people posted reviews on Google on my behalf, they all got removed almost immediately. Then mods removed my post on reddit… So I don’t expect this one to post but worth a shot.

Two Hands went one step further and blocked my social media accounts in what I can only assume is an attempt to silence me and hide the truth. I’m genuinely worried about the public health implications of this incident. I’m concerned about Two Hands’ commitment to food safety & transparency, especially since they’ve gone to EXTREMELY lengths to silence me.

Stay safe out there, friends. Let’s hope this investigation sheds some light on what’s going on at Two Hands

how do we know we can trust your account over theirs? serious question, its like he said she said…people are insane, for instance, nypd said shake shack was poisoning their milkshakes..

  2. Whether it’s a fake review or not, whether they actually made a mistake or not, good customer service is how they choose to respond to the feedback. Just saying it’s fraudulent and ignoring the issue is not the right response.

I believe OP because if you go on two hands Google maps reviews and look at the bowls and plates it’s an exact match with the bowl in OPs picture.

If you look at the julienned beets and the rough chop of the sweet potato that also looks consistent with the pictures of food on their Google reviews

  4. New_Independent_9221

ugh. i was literally there yesterday. annoying that google allows companies to delete reviews

  5. CauliflowerSushi

Yikes! Please report them to the health department!

I’ll be honest, as somebody who worked in food, shit happens, there’s bugs and they want the food, it’s unavoidable in even cleanest restaurants.

That being said, the way management responds is a huge indicator. If you run a restaurant and a customer says they found a bug in your food, you stop making anything else and check all supplies of the food that was tainted. You offer the customer a full refund and your apologies. You definitely don’t accuse them of lying about it

Wtf your review is gone from Google maps

2 HANDS !?!? FUCKING GET ALL HANDS ON DECK !!!!!

  12. LastNamePancakes

You need to call the Health Dept and NY1.

The amount of “iT’s JuSt A rOaCh” comments in this thread are disturbing. Who fucking raised you people? You all have to be trolling, right? I don’t give a fuck how many restaurants your great great great whoever immigrated over here and started. If a “wAtErBuG” can get inside your establishment and make its way into food containers then you have an issue that needs to be addressed. She didn’t see it scurrying across the floor. She didn’t see it it crawling up the wall. It didn’t fall from the ceiling onto her table/plate in real time. This is a QAQC issue that falls upon someone working in that restaurant because there is no way a fucking cockroach should go unnoticed in a stingy pile of lettuce or some quinoa that someone probably grabbed with a gloved hand.

Post on yelp, x, threads, tiktok. Shame on them for removing your review and reacting terribly

  15. Kind of reminded me of the Korean restaurant with the rat in the soup in Ktown. Yes the customers might be taking advantage of the situation too , but the owners of the restaurants denied all claims at first until the health department shut the whole restaurant down citing infestation of roaches and rats.

There response, only raises more concerns, is this how you treat clients concerns, this is deal breaker. Or biz breaker, managment needs to stop taking problem skills from Trump deny, deny, insult, the deny some more. YOUR FIRED

If you could snap your fingers and be totally satisfied with the results, what would you want and what would you like for this restaurant to do or say?

  18. newdaynewoutlook2023

I really dont like how they handled the reply to you. They could have at least stated “Thanks for sharing this. they will look into it and contact you.” I mean….seems super unprofessional for a NYC restaurant in Noho and several locations to respond like that.

  19. Sea_Ball6960

I see you already contacted the health dept. That is good.

Post reviews everywhere possible. The restaurant’s reply to your one review is ridiculous. They need to show concern and check their kitchen, not be rude and dismissive.

They need to be held accountable. Repost on Google if you can (have a friend do it for you) and Yelp. Let people know they can contact the restaurant, per their reply to Google reviews the contact is tara@twohandshospitality.com

I’m so sorry Google keeps deleting your review. Whatever happened to transparency?

I made a negative review about a café on Google and Yelp and it was deleted on both platforms. I reposted my review after it was deleted which lead to Yelp banning my 13-year old account because they sided with the business’ stance that I am fraudulent and a bully. It’s crazy. The café has now closed but I’m still bitter about my 13-year old Yelp account getting banned because of them.

  21. MagicSceptre

When going back speaking to the manager, I would’ve asked why they denied the claims in the review.

  22. MichaelRahmani

Wtf I’ve ate here many times before.. and ordered that same dish.

Not going back for a while.

  23. scarletts_skin

I would fucking pass away that is so horrifying

  24. 22gloxky

Omg I used to order delivery here a lot ewwwww

  25. butwhyanotheracct

I regret looking at the photo. Idk what I expected

  26. Resident-Comb4153

maybe get someone else to repost. people considering this place need to know

  27. throatzila

omg you should do a follow up review with a picture of the roach and also a screenshot of your receipt and bank statement – make them feel dumbbbb

  28. bigpeckerboi

It was camouflaged at first and then I was like OH DAMN 😳🤢

  29. NYGarcon

You know what, report it to local news station. If they’re trying to sweep it under the rug, the only way to hold them accountable is by making it even more visible. Try NY1 or one of the local network stations.

  30. BilboMcBaggins420

For anyone trying to inform people through Google reviews: it’s the one on Bleecker Street in Noho, not the other ones that have got reviews trying to inform the public.

  31. Couldn’t see the roach at first but now cannot unsee the roach

  32. beebyspice

bro i would have thrown the fuckin plate against the walk and left an entire trail of vomit on my way out. that is beyond foul. soooo sorry you had this experience.

  33. ejdhdhdff

This makes me weary ugh and sick. I wish I hadn’t zoomed in.

  34. HillarysCafe

Yikes! I walk by this place every day and it’s always busy. I was intending to check it out but now there’s no way I’m eating there. Thanks for reporting it and I hope you’re not scared off of quinoa for good.
