So I have this jar of anchovies which I was recently given. I’ve noticed that it’s past it’s ‘best before’ date. However, as they’re in oil and still sealed I’m thinking they will be ok to eat and won’t go off. Opinions please! Thanks

Best before dates are indicative (past them the products will start to significantly lose organoleptic and nutritional properties), assuming that the can isn’t bloated it should be fine to eat, though you should consume them as soon as possible…
I would be comfortable eating them if the seal is still intact and the fish are nicely covered in oil. Cooking then would be a safe option too.
A good excuse for some puttanesca!
They will be perfect for a long time to come. The dates are a legal requirement but products in oil have very long shelf life. To give you an example, a friend of mine opened a can of tuna that had expired almost 10 years ago and it was still good. A few months is nothing.
