I’m sure it’s not great, but has anyone tried the (newest) Carbone store bought sauce?

I saw it at the supermarket the other day when I was looking for sauce. I was so skeptical that I opted for raos instead although it was more money

It’s pretty good, I add some spicy Italian sausage for a quick week night meal.

Let me guess. It’s $12 a jar too right? I’d rather just go to Parm and have the entire dish already made.

  4. I haven’t seen the spicy vodka in the store but when it’s on sale I’ll get a few bottles of Carbone brand. For $5/6 it’s better than other supermarket options that I might touch up to my liking when hearing up.

  5. I tried it. It doesn’t taste exactly like the restaurant version, but it’s not bad at all. It’s still a good vodka sauce; just don’t expect it to have the same exact flavor as the versions at Carbone and Parm. I like that you have to add your own cream. It makes the sauce seem fresher to me than a jar with it already included, if that makes sense. I also think the onion flavor stands out more in the restaurant version than this version.

Making spaghetti sauce from scratch is so easy and fun why people buy this stuff is beyond me.

  7. PSA, making your own sauce is so easy a caveman can do it.

Normally I make my own sauce so that my mother and grandmother don’t come back from the dead to yell at me. I have used Rao’s as it is good and very convenient. I purchased a jar of Carbones vodka sauce but haven’t used it yet.
Rubirosa makes an excellent jarred vodka sauce albeit a little pricey, it’s very good.

I don’t get why it would be necessary to add cream, why wouldn’t that already be part of the jar sauce like for most jar sauces?

32 oz of sauce to a pound of pasta is a ludicrous ratio.

Wait, who weighs pasta *after* it’s been cooked?

It’s like everything the company produces-quite good but not with the outrageous prices they charge.
