Staying in this area for the first time and looking for recs on food. Have some places picked out west of the expressway, but haven’t found too many suggestions for the circled area yet. Looking for casual eats mostly but open to any favorites

As someone who just moved out of that circle— Edith’s, Hummus Market, Pecoraro Latteria. Alita Cafe has good coffee + lil treats

    i live in this area!

cozy royale- one of the best happy hour food deals in the area

I am surprised that no one mentioned Shalom Japan yet. Wonderful mashup of Jewish and Japanese cuisine done with skill and humor. One of my favorite NY restaurants. I also second Bonnie’s, I have been there twice in the last few months and was very pleased with the food and service. And just across the highway under the bridge Traif is wonderful.

    Sage Thai

    Taj Kabob King

    Carmine’s or Tony’s

    Kings County

The bar food at Rosa’s is unbelievably good.

the pop ups at Ore Bar are consistently great. Especially Border Town on Friday nights.

Nick and sons bakery has amazing croissants and pastries.

Emily’s Pork Store has excellent Italian sandwiches

  17. marx34SD

Northern Bell. Get their smoked wings with Death by Science sauce and fried deviled eggs.

  18. privetizdonetska

Edith’s, Kings Co, A-Pou’s Taste, Cozy Royale, Nick + Son’s, Ensenada, Emily’s Pork Store

    Overrated from other suggestions :
Bonnies, Anthony and Sons, Wei’s(food is mediocre, cool vibe though)

  19. Extension-Catch-9846

Just tried Montesacro and thought it was pretty good. Sage Thai lunch special will always have a piece of my heart

Baguettes, ham and cheese croissants, foccacia at “**Tasty Bread Artisan Bakery**”

Breakfast at **Jessi’s Coffee Shop** (Jessi’s burrito add bacon)

Juans $1 empanadas at **Evelyn Fruits & vegetables**

Grandma pepperoni pizza at **Rome to Brooklyn**

Quick serve / cafeteria style latin food at **Sazon Perez** or **El Gran Canario**, Pernil over rice and beans for example.

West african food at **Hills Kitchen**

Piadine at **Lella Alimentari** are really good tbh

Thai @ **Thip Osha** (better than SAGE ime)

Fried chicken at **Birdies Hot Chicken**

    **Overrated:**

    – Simply Nova (too expensive)

    – Win Son / Win Son Bakery (too expensive, too busy)

    – Bonnies (too expensive, too busy)

    – Taste of Heaven (too expensive for the quality of food honestly)

**Other places to consider**, but don’t take these as my recommendations:

    – Brooklyn Ball Factory

    – Baby Blues luncheonette

    – Casa Ora

    – Ichiran

Yall have let me down in the comments section. Bahia on Grand for Pupusas and good Salvadorian comfort food. Love that spot

Living in the neighbourhood my weekly go tos are :

    • Pizza – Carmines (grandma slice)

    • Coffee – Land to sea

    • Pita – Pita Palace

    • Sandwich – Emily’s Pork Store (I think it’s better value than Anthony & Sons across the street but you gotta try Anthony & Sons)

    • Simply Nova – highly quality bagel. If you’ve lined up for a Russ and Daughters lox bagel before it’s on par with this one. Yes the bagel is small but I like that.

    • Win Son Bakery (I’ve eaten at both and think the Bakery is better than the restaurant)

    • Otis is fantastic

    • Syndicated is fun and different if you want to watch a movie. Food is okay.

    • Shalom Japan – I still think about their pastrami

    • Cozy Royale – honestly their happy hour smash burger for $10 is better than their $25 main menu burger

    • Nick & Sons bakery (go early)

    • Lighthouse is consistently good

    • Ensenada

  23. bonkstick

There are a lotttt of great places just right outside of the circle you shared, but here are my favs within the area you provided…:

    Simply Nova for good bagels
Emily’s Pork Store for killer Italian sandwiches – I’d recommend them over Anthony & Sons tbh
    Dar525
New Apolo for Puerto Rican x Chinese food
    Nick + Sons Bakery
