  5. Bit late to the party but, Thank You SO much for this recipe. First reasonable recipe
I've found that doesn't start off with "Canned, Store bought Tomato's"
Your process for cooking Tomato's down, skin on, adds nutrients and naturally helps
thicken the sauce from the start. Take out the onions and food milling it is exactly our
base sauce! The Tomato Rue is genius. We grow our own garlic, onions, and Tomato's,
So, add flour and butter, and chicken broth, (we all have that)………….. Voila

  6. Just finished eating a bowl of this soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. This is the absolute best tomato soup I've ever had! I didn't have cloves but it was perfect without it. I bought cloves after it was done, but before I ate any. Can't wait to see how the flavor changes the next time I make this. I used tomatoes from my garden, and maybe that's why, but there were tons of seeds that didn't get blended up. Anyone have tips on that?

  7. This recipe is just what I was looking for to use up some very ripe tomatoes. Some were the last of my home crop and some were store bought. I used the immersion blender method to smooth the soup. It worked pretty well, and was certainly easy (careful not to splash!) though there were some skin bits left behind. I might simply need to blend it for longer, or maybe use the Ninja blender, being careful not to create a heat bomb. (Yes, I have cleaned the kitchen ceiling due to mishaps of that nature!)

I added a cup of half and half at the very end, because I like creamy tomato soup best. The salt needed to be upped a bit to compensate. I also added a dash of allspice; not enough to notice, just enough for a warm complexity. Paired with grilled cheese, it had Hubby mmmmm-ing with pleasure. It really was delicious. Win!

Many variations could be imagined using this excellent recipe as a base. Thanks a bunch!

  8. This was delicious. If I make it again I will probably only use two cloves instead of four. I also used a gluten free flour and coconut sugar instead of white refined sugar.

  9. I agree with anyone else that says this is the best Fresh Tomato Soup Recipe EVER! Good going Charlotte

  10. I made it two times. It was delicious! I added some sautΓ©ed carrots, onions and celery for texture. And tortellini made it extra good.

  11. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Garlic cloves not actual cloves. Who’s the genius that messed that up?

  12. Garlic or cloves? You show gloves, but the website says garlic.. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

  13. Cool. I’ve grown so many tomatoes this year I wanted to try making my own soup. I've now made this soup and it was amazingly delicious.

  14. Tomatoes have sugar in them. Onions have so much that they can be caramelized. Yet there is added sugar. Can anyone say diabetes? I'm a foodie. I love the tastes and textures of fresh food. Added sugars and sometimes too much added salt just hides those flavors. A touch of salt can enhance flavors, a touch. I'd rather have the sugar inI a cannoli.

  15. Could anyone tell me if I can use vegetable stock instead of chicken stock? Also in her video I didn't see any seeds when she was using the blender, how do I get rid of them if it's necessary?

  16. Amazing soup! I added a little bit of basil pesto. I love the creamy, and the fresh taste very great recipe.
