Did Uber raise drivers’ pay recently? Dude must be pulling in bank.

Only been to Castaway out of these I think. Don’t know that I’d say it’s a 10/10 but definitely good and the view is amazing if you can get a spot on the patio. Some fun cocktails too so make sure to scope that out if that’s your speed.

I got steak and my partner got chicken and waffles. Had better but my steak was still pretty good. My partner got chicken and waffles and the size of the chicken was just completely massive. Tasted great but she had trouble figuring out how to eat it without getting it all over the place or herself, especially since the vibe is sort of swanky there.

TLDR: Castaway – 7/10, Good food, good cocktails, you can find better but a real big plus is the view.

  3. These are all boujee nonsense. Check out these spots:

Joy, Saffys, Sun Nong Dan, Kuya Lord, Jon & Vinnys, Badmaash, Bestia, Masa, Pine & Crane, Night + Market

This list gives the same feeling I get when friends from out of town ask to go to the Hollywood Walk of Fame…

Jesus … talk about not having true knowledge of LAs food scene. I’ll just spit out fancy restaurant names out to tourist. 😂 with the exception of Mastros I have not been nor have wanted to visit any of those other places because there are soooo many better options 😁

  6. OllieGlocks

Yikes. Catch as a 10/10 is truly horrific to see.

  7. uncleguito

Most of these places are sceney and have mediocre, overpriced food.

  8. FourLeafClover0

I wouldn’t trust anyone’s judgement on restaurants if they gave Catch a 10/10.

Just do a search on this Reddit channel and you’ll get tons of actually good recommendations on date spots.

Some options: Merois, Saffy’s, Gwen, Osteria Mozza, Ardor.

I don’t know if I would give Urth a 10/10. It’s always a hassle and overall I would say it’s good but not like “perfection” I’m too poor for the rest of the list I guess

  10. mama por dios is the absolute worst, never. tacky.

  11. Legacy0904

Lol at catch being 10/10. This list is what a white suburbanite mom would think is “the best food in LA”.

Look through the sub and you’ll easily find better places than these.

From the list, urth is a decent cafe. Good but not amazing. Perch does have a great rooftop view. Tao is pretty damn good too.

Barton G is ass. Hell’s Kitchen is insanely overrated.

  12. SoCalOutdoorBJJBaker

Anyone who gives Javier’s a 9/10 is someone whose recommendations no longer mean anything to me

  13. SinisterKid

On the plus side he gave you a great list of places to avoid.

In Hollywood: Gwen, L’antica, Mother Wolf, Hoy-Ka, Providence (highly recommend), Chi Spacca, Osteria Mozza, Petit Trois, Osteria Mamma, Tonchin, Kali.

Near Hollywood: Republique, Kuya Lord, Angelini Osteria

I have plenty of other suggestions for outside the area, or if you’re looking for a specific style of food and a specific price range.

  14. zukos_honor

Hell’s Kitchen isn’t even in LA unless the uber driver counts being casted as a diner during the filming of the season 💀

  15. aye_bee_ceeeee

Javier’s is an offense to anyone who has ever even had a Mexican friend

    First off, congratulations!

Idk if ur trying to make this a very LA tourist honeymoon, but I have some suggestions that are away from the crowd.

Romantic: Inn of the Seventh Ray Topanga Canyon (get outdoor seating)
Steak: Arroyo Chop House in Pasadena
Sushi and Beach: Nobu Malibu (cliché but nice)
Sushi no beach: Osawa in Pasadena
    Beach Casual: Neptune’s Net Malibu
On the beach: Paradise Cove Malibu (can be crowded)
Italian Day Date: Eataly Century City Mall (crowded, this rec will get hate)
    Italian: Union Restaurant Pasadena
Cuban Pastries: Portos (savory and sweet, not a date spot but great food)
Restaurant with Live Music: Dresden Silverlake

Since you’re in Hollywood, almost any KBBQ spot in town is good, but expect long waits. Some places let you reserve a table online.

Ur gonna get so many good recs but out of them all definitely recommend Inn of the Seventh Ray for a date.

    Bon appétit!

  17. entreethagiant

Urth 10/10? Claim Jumpers but make it for LA stereotypes.

  18. orangesocialcurrency

Try luv 2 eat – really good Thai food in Hollywood area!

  19. hollahalla

My friend went to Lawry’s recently and said the quality went WAY DOWN lol.

  20. Apprehensive-Ad9832

Elephante is fine but expect to be surrounded by wannabe influencers, especially if you go at sunset. I went with a friend and when we told the people next to us we didn’t want our picture taken they audibly gasped 😂

  21. Excellent-Antelope42

Your Uber driver just searched for #LA #nightlife #foodie on instagram and gave ratings based on the babes who posted photos in front of the restaurant.

  22. dope_as_the_pope

Perch is fun to go grab a cocktail on the roof. Don’t eat there though.

  23. iansmash

    This list is trash lol

Any of the popular blogs would do you better tbh

  24. Lettucedrip

Alternative opinion, as a tourist you’re going to have a great time at these places. They can be very fun.

  25. carriealamode

Yamashiro is a fun experience with a good view. I used to work in the catering team years ago

  26. GlassesW_BitchOnThem

    Urth Cafe 10/10?

I would have felt unsafe in that Uber. Hopped out at a stoplight.

  27. purrplenurple

    Urth cafe & Catch got 10/10? That’s a first.
