HEB is selling pumpkin wrapped sushi 🎃 🍣 😱


Late last night I was foraging for snacks at HEB Tech Ridge and saw New! pumpkin wrapped Harvest Roll. Was it a dream? Was it a nightmare?

I’d be down to try it but 10:45pm is not prime grocery store sushi eating time. Got to get on that earlier in the day.

    I stick to their raw sushi options tbh. Tokyo combo is my fav. Or just the nigiri. The crazy Texas rolls are just too much and not that healthy.

    I’m always astonished by HEB’s innovation. I ask you: what can they NOT wrap in a single use plastic for us? (Correct answer: abso-fucking-lutely nothing!)

    Also, pumpkin sushi sounds horrible. Was it actually okay?

    So I’m a lover of innovation and have enjoyed some unusual offerings. Loved the Elote roll they had last summer, so I gave this a try.

    It is very ehh. The pumpkin flavor isn’t very pronounced and the majority of the taste comes from the onion bits. I got it with a coupon so I don’t seriously regret the purchase, but I wouldn’t get it again.

    Bought and ate a set. They are good. It’s just a pumpkin coating not pumpkin spice. If I had not been told it had pumpkin , I would have just guessed it was more vegetable.

    Why do that put that damn poke sauce on everything though? I’m allergic to that stuff so I can’t have half of the rolls .

    I tried this because there was a coupon. It was pretty good- the pumpkin is very subtle.
