First time canning. Appreciate the help

Made some pasta sauce which turned out really good. Used the boiling method to can my sauce and one jar has some dimples on the lid. Is it safe to say this one didn’t seal or is it fine? If there is an issue, what should I do to address it?

Thank you again!

Yes this is not safe for room temperature storage. That said, you can put it in the fridge and enjoy. I would guess you may have over tightened the band. The band needs to be finger tip tight because it has to release air to create the seal. If it’s too tight, the pressure builds up and causes this

Ring was too tight, pressure in the jar bent the lid, use that one for dinner tonight, otherwise refrigerate and use soon.

If you put your cans in the water bath and don’t see bubbles come up from around the rings on the cans as they boil, it might be a sign the ring is too tight and air can’t get out. It has to escape to form the vacuum. If you don’t want it for dinner, you can always freeze the sauce!

Thank you all for your comments. It’s in the fridge for dinner tomorrow.
