Great recipes. Trying to eat more sardines because of their health benefits (including low mercury content) and ordered one dozen Wild Planet lightly smoked sardines (in EVOO) along with a dozen Matiz Wild Sardines in Spanish Olive Oil (which have a good reputation). I have tried eating them from the can with dijon mustard and Swedish rye crips. That's a very good (and simple) approach to sardines but sardines by themselves have a very strong flavor profile which is not for the faint of heart. I liked the first recipe flaking the sardines (for some reason I had never thought of flaking sardines), adding celery, capers, etc., and pairing them with avocado, all of which tended to mute the strong flavor of the sardine just by itself and made a very appetizing dish. Thanks for sharing your discoveries!
My favorite one was with the avocados
I have the ingredients, all I have to do is combine them the same way that you did and I will have a fabulous lunch! Thank you.
I love sardines but not supposed to eat due to salt and kidneys.
I love the Portuguese sardines in tomato sauce. I just have them on toast or in a sandwich.
I mixed the sardines with finely chopped shrimp.olive oil n Parmigiano cheese inside the avocado n a glass of pilot grigio wine. What an amazing lunch
While I couldn't watch whenever you put food into your mouth—an issue I've had all my life, and I don't know if there's even a name for it—I do like your recipes, and now have at least three to use sardines in. I had them today for the first time in my 70 years of life.
I chose to go with boneless, skinless, and it was fine. I made a big, crunchy, crisp cabbage/kale/carrot+ salad, made my own blue cheese-guacamole dressing, using the olive oil from the can of sardines to thin the dressing out a bit, added the 'dines, sliced almonds, tiny bits of super crunchy onions from a packet in my salad kit, and about 1/3 of a 15 ounce can of dark red kidney beans. I also added one Tablespoon of nutritional yeast, which makes salads so good, and I put crumbled blue cheese on top of it all.
BOY, was that good, and filling, and I don't even know if I tasted the sardines. I just know it all went so well together, I'm going to make it again for my Sabbath meal this Saturday.
Will be trying these recipes. Thanks.
You will laugh, but I have 330-cans of sardines. I will be trying these recipes.
I'm really interested in the sardines patties. I will definitely be making those patties
I feel like I will like sardines, but I'm scared to try them lol I bought a can and it sat in my pantry for like 4 months and then my daughter threw them away saying it was weird having them in our house lol
Excellent recipes. Last one was my favorite. I will add some chopped red onion.
This looks marvelous, I can’t wait to try the Pattie’s, and the salad. Thanks!
Beutiful
Stuffed avocados looked pretty, but it is really messy to eat them like that.
Thank you for the recipes. The first 2 I've kind of done my versions of, BUT those burgers hellz yeah. I love smoked fish and smoked sardines are everywhere. I was first put off by the looks, but now its all good.
I do actually think I could eat all of those dishes. But I would kick out the starches 😇
Yummy!!! Will make all of these
3:32 Does the Primal Kitchen Green Goddess dressing require refrigeration after opening?
I mix sardines in my scrambled eggs with any leftover veggies I have. The sardines give it kind of a smoky taste.
A great looking recipe and I have to try it because those nasty little fish are so nutritious.
Only one problem. This brand is from China. There are plenty of more trustworthy sources though.
You put the backbones in ! YUK !
So glad to hear of you….and your recipes! I’ve wondered what to do with sardines……and poof…..there was your recipe! I’m subscribed!!!
