Made a reservation for the first brunch served at Pearl Dive on West 5th. It was their grand opening event and included a complimentary cart of raw oysters and shrimp that made the rounds, an oyster ice sculpture, jazz band, very well dressed parties.
The most memorable oyster was called a Little Bitch. Small and potent East Coast oyster and the mignonette was 💋. I didn’t order any additional oysters, there’s a dozen or so varieties, bartender said they’re about $4 each.
Two best dishes I ordered are small plates: squid ink calamari is a dark, crispy delicacy and the star of the show really was the Kanpachi Aguachile 🤩. It’s yellowtail pinwheeled in a delicious Serrano green sauce. So damn good.
Fish tacos and fries tided us through a couple more drinks.
We were at the bar 4+ hours, had a good time with the bartenders, Houston Texans game was on. Tried cocktails both on and off menu. Pictures are the Black Pearl, a Mexican Martini, and espresso Martinis. Bartender also made a really good Mezcal Margaritas.
Total for 8 cocktails, 1 cold bar dish, 2 small plates and 1 brunch item was $216 plus TT. Brunch menu doesn’t have the big ticket dinner entrees but it can still add up fast.
Walked over to Bar Peached afterwards for Happy Hour. $7 cocktails and sub-$10 bites are great value there as always.

Not rushing over for those drinks. Yassine operation right? Not in a hurry to go there despite living close by.
Man, I’m poor….
Also, do you work for Pearl Dive? Any association to the management group?
Looks like the typical overpriced mediocre food that’s become synonymous with this coty.
Why are they serving burned whatever that is in slide 2
