The best. I remember sometimes coming home super late when living over there and slipping the bakers a few bucks by a side door on Henry for some hot loaves. Amazing.

It’s been years since I’ve had that bread, going to the Google machine to find a bakery in Chicago for some now, lol

Is this a neighborhood thing? I’ve only seen it referred to as prosciutto bread.

Damn you damn you to hell I haven’t been home in 8 years I grew up a block from there …the best when I was a teen was coming home at 5am and stopping at the side door and bribing the guys working the overnight for hot lard bread …pro tip make French toast out of long biased cut slices about an inch thick serve with steak and a couple of poached eggs this was my go to move if a girl I liked spent the night!

You should’ve included a photo of a cross section or after taking a piece off! First time I tried I was blown away by how much salami was STUFFED into this thing, absolutely delicious when hitting a concentrated spot and getting that tiny burst of saltiness
