I love the idea of Bánh Xèo but the execution always seems off. Nine times out of ten when I order it it is always too moist inside, not crispy enough, soggy, etc etc.
Elizabeth Street Cafe’s is pretty damn perfect, crispy the whole way through, well seasoned.

This looks delicious! It looks very crunchy.
Elizabeth Street Cafe also has the world’s greatest french toast.

Looks really good. Do you know how it compares to Sunflower’s?

A pretty good deal for $76!

I’m glad you enjoy it.
Maybe my Mom made it differently, but this image looks like the crepe is too thick and crispy versus what I expect.
Could really be just different in expectations based on how we grew up though.

I went to Elizabeth cafe once , I just cannot justify the pricing

The only time I’ve had a good meal there was when they had a burger during the MMH burger challenge 7-8 years ago. Otherwise consistently underwhelming and the weakest of all the MMH spots

Not sure why this place gets so much hate. I’ve been a few times and thought it was quite good (definitely not cheap), but good.

bun belly’s take is pretty good, too! i like elizabeth street’s food and drinks despite their gentrifier status, but damn is it expensive.

They used to have the best pastry program in Austin. Amazing croissant and perfect Kouign-Amann. I think the pastry chef must’ve moved on. Not as great these days.

The worst I have ever been downvoted on Reddit was in this sub when I said I like Elizabeth Street Cafe. (I also lived in Asia for 10 years and feel I have a good sense of decent Asian food).
So anyway, I’m glad you did not suffer the same fate. This place hates Elizabeth’s for some reason lol. I still stand by my opinion that it’s good.

The worst of all MMH

It also wins the indoor decibel ratings game.
So no thanks.

Elizabeth apparently just got a new chef who sounds really good for the place. Excited to check it out

Elizabeth is awe$$$ome. Be ready to spend. Food is great but when does the taste/cost values intersect for folks? EC is close.

Sauce seems light but I’ll take your word for it that it’s good.
I heard adding beer in the batter can make it crispier.

There’s nothing more r/Austin than people upset ONE person likes something they hate lol

Overrated. They sure know their audience though.
