Any idea what’s the real measurement of apples? (50 oz = 3.12 lbs) My only thought is that the 50 oz measurement is once the 4 ¼ lbs has been peeled and cored. I guess that makes sense but I feel like I’ve never seen a recipe written that way. Also I’m not sure if only peels and cores would add up to over a pound of waste.
Wondering your thoughts!

I found her answer to this on the [Serious Eats](https://www.seriouseats.com/bravetart-easy-apple-pie-recipe)version in the comments. She says the Lb amount is for shopping purposes, the measured weight is for the prepared fruit!
Yes, the larger weight is for whole apples, to account for later removing cores and peels (plus a little extra to be on the safe side). The smaller amount is how much you should have after trimming.
