ΛΑΔΟΚΟΥΛΟΥΡΑ
This recipe and many more are on my website: http://www.dimitrasdishes.com/recipes/ladokouloura-greek-style-olive-oil-cookies
Makes about 45 cookies:
1 and 1/2 cups olive oil or vegetable oil
3/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1/4 cup water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
4 cups all purpose flour
zest of 2 oranges
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sesame seeds or ground walnuts
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, 180 degrees Celsius.
Zest the oranges before juicing them.
Combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and orange zest in a large bowl and whisk all the ingredients together.
In another bowl, combine the olive oil, orange juice, water, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and vanilla extract. Whisk well to incorporate all of the ingredients.
Add the flour mixture a little at a time whisking to combine.
When the mixture becomes to thick to whisk, mix the rest of the flour in with your hands.
Add the sesame seeds and mix until combined.
At this point the dough will seem wet and sticky.
Set it aside for 5 minutes and it will come together and become a very pliable cookie dough.
Cut the dough into walnut sized balls. This recipe makes about 45.
Roll the balls into logs and place onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper. Leave some room in between each cookie for rising. They will also spread slightly while baking.
Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until the cookies become slightly browned around the edges.
It is a good idea to also rotate the trays halfway through baking. Switch the bottom tray to the upper rack and the top tray on the bottom. This will ensure even baking.
Cool the cookies on cooling racks.
Serve and enjoy!

I love the look of your whisk! The wires aren't so long and seem sturdy. What brand is it?
They look wonderful !! just wondering if I can use half olive oil and half veg. oil .
Mam your recipes look very good! How much does your 1 cup of flour weigh? Would really appreciate if the measurements were in grms for accuracy. Thanks.
Sorry I mean vegan 😅 😔
I made them it was so delicious
Thank you Dimitra, I've been making them for 40years but in logs and cut and recook and so on, your recipe is so much easier and quicker and very delicious 😋 just make a big batch today. Kalo Mina and keep well , kind regards , you are a very good cook.❤️🧿🇬🇷
I wouldn't call these healthy cookies as 1 cup of sugar is a loot of sugar.
Did I miss something? Don’t see how much flour, sugar etc!
Sounds delicious. Will try to make it. Thanks
Thanks for the recipe, they look really delicious, but please stop saying they're healthy. They're just as unhealthy as any cookie would be. They have a lot of fat and sugar. Vegan doesn't automatically mean healthy. Veganism is an ethical movement for the animals, and has nothing to do with health. Some people are plant-based, that's where the health factor kicks in, and still: these delicious cookies contain a lot of fat and sugar and therefore aren't healthier or less fattening than other cookies.
I made those today. They felt wet! So i added some almond flour which was just perfect. They came out amazing. Thankyou for sharing your recipe. 💜
1 cup is equal to 200ml ? Or 250 ml ?
Hi how much flour and sugar do we need.
Ah! Cutting oranges on the marble counter? 😭
Just tried making them this week. They are delicious. I actually put both walnuts and Sesame seeds in the dough before mixing. I love these cookies with walnuts and the orange and cinnamon flavors are amazing together. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
You won't belevevit. I forgot the olive oil and it still came out great. Forgot to halve the clove so that dreaded the tongue a bit. Used gluten free flour. Great recipe
Hi, live your recipes, I made these orange and almond olive oil biscuit, however I followed led the exact ingredients but the mixture in the end was too runny and hard to manage , should I have put more flour ? Thanks
I would love to make these but I don't have baking soda, I have only baking powder. Could you please advise? Else tomorrow I will buy baking soda. Thank you ❤️
I saw your video today and made these today! They are very good 😊
In Morocco there are similar biscuits, but even simpler. Just flour, sugar, salt, and plain olive oil (the one people cook with)/ other cooking oils. Don't remember there being cinnamon in them. They are pale. I was amazed, having watched them being made, that so few and simple ingredients could make such delicious biscuits (US 'cookies').
Hello Dimitra:) If I’d like to make less than 45 ladokouloura can I reduce the ingredients to half of each?
Hello Dimitra:) was wondering if I wanted to make less cookies can I reduce the ingredients to half of each?
What kind of olive oil do you use? I like a strong Greek olive oil that is great in a salad, but not sure if it would be god in cookies. Thanks!
Made these today, just quartered the recipe to see how they turn out, looking good in oven so far!!! Might try
veg oil next time, add walnuts and a little sesame seeds!!! Good for fasting if you use veg oil!!!
