The big beautiful space on Lake Austin Boulavard between Hula Hut and Mozart’s has a fresh coat of paint and is now open as Quince Lakehouse. Went to their first Friday night open, got to the bar around 5:30 and stayed through sunset. Weather was perfect, view of the lake is gorgeous, had a great spot with a good crew of people, dogs, fresh air and music on the back deck.

I haven’t seen a menu on their website yet so I’ll post what they had last night, I think it’s an abbreviated version of what they’ll offer when they’re at 100%. Bartender was very accommodating though he said several things are still in the works.

Had a delicious crispy Seabass dish, ceviche, sashimi, and Black Forest Cake.

I only went to Abel’s on the Lake once years ago and never went back. I’ll go back to this place, it looks like it has a lot of potential.

This is how I found out Abel’s on the Lake is closed. Food was never great but the vibes over there are great

Just occurred to me that it was the same folks as Cain and Abel’s on west campus

$18 a roll?!!!! Good Lord that’s a lot of money!

Seeing that menu and those prices, I give them 6 months

  5. Why do so many of Austin’s menus look so un-original? This one doesn’t even look a little interesting.

  6. It’s giving…Upscale Cheesecake Factory. But I’m not sure I want to pay upwards of $20 for spicy tuna. At a Mexican (??) or whatever the hell this is…restaurant.

It seems to be trying too hard for the location. People just want to drink reasonably priced beer and cocktails on the water.

  8. Problem with this location is that it’s huge. Lots of wasted space.

Called quince…nothing with quince in it on the menu?

Their Fort Worth location gets 4.1/5.0 stars on google. 4.3/5.0 in San Miguel. Based on that, it might be pretty average…

Whole integer prices on the menu is a sure sign you’re about to pay way too much for your meal.

  12. We went this morning and enjoyed the experience. Food was great, staff was friendly and the space is beautiful. Only a small part of the full building was open, and we heard they were hoping to hire more staff members before opening up the full space. The staff member who helped us also mentioned they’d be adding a brunch menu in the future. We shared eight dishes between four people based on the recommendation of 2-3 plates per person. Happy to have this alternative to Hula Hut for dining on the lake

We’ve got sushi and then Peruvian fries and some Mexican dishes? What the hell is going on over there?

Everyone on this thread complaining about prices….have you been out to eat in austin lately? Have you ever eaten at a waterfront restaurant anywhere? These prices look insanely affordable compared to other locations in the surrounding area.

Interesting…. Abel’s sucked, in terms of food and service, so I’m hoping this new place will improve in at least one (if not both) of those respects. The prices (while high af) are honestly expected for lakeside dining.

Went there tonight, sat at the bar. Unfortunately staff including bartender seem inexperienced and so service was lacking, (she never looked at me again after taking my order.) Food was not fresh cooked .They have to get this stuff down or people won’t come back.
