Great idea for composte. We are so ready for cooler weather and much needed rain. We will be planting this coming weekend and doing more videos. Tell Greg and pop's we said hi. God bless
Does Mushroom compost have the same beneficial microbes in it?
Nothin' like counting on cold fronts to "have some cool weather" when it should be cool… also I'm so jealous of that awesome high tunnel lol. Have a great week stay blessed everyone. 🤘🇺🇸🇷🇺
I'm planning on the Happy dance on Friday supposed to be cooler! It's not uncommon for us here in Tennessee to still be in the lower 80's right into November sometimes.
What a great idea. Wish I could find that up in our area. Cooler temps and a ton of rain! Bring it on. We are struggling with those large grasshoppers. I still have squash producing. Jalapeños, okra and other peppers are still producing. Tomatoes are producing!!
Thanks for the video. We are still dry and in the 80's here. It's supposed to cool off next week.❤
Looks like a Fall garden success! If anyone deserves this, it’s you dear Jill…..🤗♥️
Never heard of mushroom blocks-interesting. Just harvested the last potatoes & onions. Still picking a lot of scuppernongs & muscadines every morning. The electric fence keeps the deer away, but the crows are a real nuisance this year. I think that they have made friends with the scarecrows & fake owls! Next year, we are going to invest in bird netting.
How exciting! We would love to have some spent mushroom blocks for our non-profit community garden at The Houston Yoga & Ayurveda Ashram
Weds Happy Dance! 😂😂😊
💃💚🕺
You can't go wrong with mushroom compost. I'm fortunate to have a very large commerical mushroom farm within a half hour of my house who sells it's spent mushroom compost for only $35 a pickup bed load. It's literal gold for the garden.
Before you add too much organics you'll want to test your PH. I'm not an expert but all compost, including mushroom compost, will finish with a PH slightly over 8 but the plants want a PH of 6.3-6.8. I've got to learn more about using variations of acids so that my waterings can also be more of a plant-feeding by better managing the PH. Remember rain is carbonic-acid simply b/c the water is surrounded by carbon-dioxide in the air but soon after it puddles on the ground it raises in PH slightly & why we want well-drained soil for the high-PH organics.
Last year I had Lions Mane mushrooms naturally show up in my wood-pile. I couldn't eat them b/c I spray insecticide on the wood the week prior but they've changed the way I view December 12th, in that I hope to see them again.
Thank you Jill for the prayers! We so need it as well as others! Praying for better weather for all! Looking forward to the happy dance😂Lol! I may be doing it too! Thank you for always giving such good informational videos❤️
❤❤❤❤❤
The Blocks may be spent , but can still produce edible mushrooms. so don't let them go . harvest and eat.. We tried that last year in our raised beds and gots lots of oyster mushrooms. Smile… Ninette Bird- The Caribbean Wife. – Tx.
We live close to Mike and Rochelle and we also are hoping for the beneficial rains and cooler temps. I am getting an entire new crop of jalopeno's, cayenne, green peppers and still getting tomatoes and have fall tomatoes planting so hopefully our weather will benefit all our gardens!!
