That one jar on the far left looks like it might have a proper lid at least. Judging by the reused cheese lids though it’s probably a “recycled” lid. Dollar store cans and jars would be better. No way to know if you made the right seal on these.

Something tells me she HAS had someone ‘question her authenticity ever’ or she wouldn’t be so defensive smh

I love the way they cite “100+ year old recipes” as though the age is what makes them safe. Like… people also used to put sugar and fruit juice in a jug with lace over the top to keep out flies and hoped the right yeast would get in and turn it into wine. But I’m sure it’s just a coincidence people died of food borne illness more often then.

I don’t need to go looking for trouble. It will always find me. No ‘extras’ required.

I try to play by the “not my kitchen, not my rules” mentality, but sometimes it’s nice to get a reminder that “yawl can’t eat at everybody house.”

Yeah, I’ll bet it never tastes the same…

I can’t imagine going to all the trouble and expense of canning juice and then having to worry about throwing it out.

Some of those lids are from commercial pickle company containers that have been reused, and of course the pasta one on the right. I would wager NONE of these lids are on their first day at the rodeo, even the one on the far left.
Yikes. This is scary stuff.

Anyone else grossed out by the wording “he slurps it back”? (In addition to being grossed out by the unsafe canning practices)

I don’t eat canned goods from other people unless they belong to my canning coven

I only use canning jars with new jar lids and bands as recommended by the USDA guidelines. I would put those jars I the refrigerator

Can i ask what’s wrong with these? As per (American) timetable i found online the process times look ok depending on what type of juice she canned?
