Would anyone be able to tell me what’s wrong with my barista express ? I’ve deep cleaned it & reassembled. It’s spinning at each stage but as soon as I put in coffee beans it doesn’t grind them. Sage support have been terrible to say the least. Any help would be appreciated!

Might have a broken belt inside the grinder that the motor turns or there is a plastic piece on the shaft of the motor that turns the belt and it’s worn down.. I would look to take it apart so you can see what’s going on when the motor is turning on, that will reveal you issue.. but my guess is something related to the motor spinning but not moving the belt to turn your burrs.. have had this happen on a baratza grinder

Following, cause i have the same machine. Might happen to me someday.

  3. It sounds as if the motor doesn’t have any load nor engaging with the gears. Perhaps the teeth of the gears in the gearbox are stripped or the gears are displaced so they aren’t even touching. Did it gradually get worse to this point or suddenly one day?

  4. Does the little red align arrow and red dot need to be aligned? Just a full random observation with no knowledge of the grinder.

I did have a similar issue and vacuumed out the few beans stuck in the bottom, reseated it, and then it worked.

This sounds to me like it is probably a bad capacitor – the component needed to jump-start the burrs when you activate the grinder. Does the motor spin the burrs when there are no grinds in it? If it does, it’s very likely a bad capacitor
