Is this safe? I know and trust the makers but have never received in a non mason jar
It was made this month. Will it stay stable if I don’t open it for awhile? Grape jam

General consensus on these is usually no. If they made that jam to put in the fridge, that’s one thing. But it is not going to be shelf stable.

I know it’s blasphemous, but I do do this. I inspect the jars and lids – if they look good I’ll use them for canning.
Most people on this sub will tell you to throw it out. If I knew and trusted the maker, I would keep and use the jam.

No not recommendable but I have done this myself and have seen a lot of it done in Europe where two piece lids are uncommon and expensive , remember jelly and jam used to be just sealed with wax , I helped my mother do a lott of them because…… canning lids were too expensive for jelly ……. Jelly and jam are high sugar and safer than other things might be ….. I’d eat it …. Tell them thanks and give them a flat of pint canning jars …… give them an ohhhh my if the reused jars don’t seal you would loose all that EXPENSIVE !!!!! Sugar speech .

We can’t know if it is safe, because we don’t know the recipe or how it was processed.
If you’re asking about reusing commercial jars, it *can* be safe, but for a variety of reasons is absolutely not recommended.
