despite the awful reviews on multiple locations via Yelp, I thought the bagel was pretty dang good. Def not the friendliest service and despite not waiting in line to order, we waited a long time to receive our two bagel order… this and one other bagel w/ schmear and veggies.
I love Jyan Isaac for bagels and still need to try Courage, especially since Montreal style bagels are my all time favorite. Need to try Layla’s too but i’m sort of salty they opened up directly next to Jyan Isaac serving essentially the same thing. They do look good though.
Who’s your favorite bagel in the city?

I used to go to the one in Brentwood, but they never put enough shmear for my preference.
Ridiculously priced.
Favorite is Maury’s hands down. That #8 is perfection.
No capers? wtf..
$15? Jesus
Do they have smoked sable?
Clark St does a good one
Not enough lox
Why would you be salty about the location a business opened?
I’ve heard both places are good, tho I’ve only had the bagel sandwich from Jyan Isaac and it is awesome
For my fellow celiac people, Modern Bread and Bagel in Woodland Hills is entirely gf and they have soo much variety
Didn’t laylas open first?
NYT article from a couple years ago went to their heads and service/quality dipped. Layla’s is good. Courage is good too, but the line is unacceptable. Belle’s in Highland Park was solid.
I have no idea if they’ve changed in quality but like 2 years ago we did a blind bagel taste test party with 12 bagel places around LA and people rated them. Pop’s came in 1st with Bagel Broker last (except for Canter’s which was so bad we disqualified them).
I tried the one on Fairfax once. Was highly disappointed.
The Bagel Factory. Although I rarely get the sandwiches. But the one time i did get it, it was really good. I live right by pops and like it but prefer The Bagel Factory. It’s also cheaper than Pops so that helps.
15 is a crime
I prefer Hank’s. And I think it’s cheaper.
Love Pops, still a go to
I need this
