Welcome to Bonita’s Kitchen! Today we will be making BLUEBERRY SYRUP, these blueberries we picked here in Newfoundland and Labrador last summer and I froze them fresh. This delicious blueberry syrup will be lovely for your pancakes, ice cream or favourite dessert. See recipe below!

Ingredients:
1 1/2 Cups blueberries fresh or frozen
1/2 Cup white sugar
1/4 Cup water

Method:
Add all ingredients to your saucepan and let boil on a medium heat stirring until all ingredients starts to boil.
• Stirring until it starts to reduce the liquid and it starts to bubble, and it reads 200º to 225º F on the candy thermometer.
If you don’t have a candy thermometer, let cook for 15 minutes or so. SEE VIDEO FOR MORE DETAILS!
• Remove from heat and pour into jar, serve hot or cold.
• Store in fridge up to two weeks, label and date jar.

I apologize in advance if anything in this video is not clear or miss read, please follow my recipe when making this dish.

  1. Oh Bonita, this is my All Time Favorite Pancakes. I also cook the pancakes with blueberries in them too. Must have the blueberry syrup and whipped cream. Now I’m hungry for them. Strawberry can be made the same way. Thank you for this, I thought you were making them especially for Me. You definitely read my mind.❤️❤️

  2. Oh no 🌞 This is terrific simplicity and sweetness- hot blueberry syrup on pie❣ pancakes❣, great gift making and deserves 👏👏👏
Your recipe for LEMON COD came in. How easy and delicious 👏 Cod is a good solid meat that keeps its moisture, when cooked. You hve one of those guys, too? We're not married but hve been friends for years and if there's a bit of broccoli in my teeth he won't say anything….
We love to cook together and no doubt I'll be making him pancakes when this BLUEBERRY SYRUP is done.
Always thanking you for your great video presentations and for including the ingredients and measurements in your description and video – way to go👍❣😋

  3. I love homemade blueberry syrup too. I also reduce the syrup more and use it on my cheesecake. My recipe is the same as yours except i add a 1/2 teaspoon of butter at the very end like my grandmother did for her syrup. It adds a rich taste/feel to syrup. Homemade elderberry syrup is also a real treat.

  4. I love the look of the blueberry syrup and would like to make some myself at home. We have plenty of blueberries here in Arkansas and also other berries as well and as a child we ate plenty of them raw and cooked also.

  5. Blueberry is my favorite I can only imagine how delicious this syrup tastes with French toast pancakes sausage and bacon. 😋

  6. I tried this recipe today (March 6, 2020). It was very nice: often syrups are far too sweet, but in this recipe, the sugar didn't overwhelm the berries. Tried it with blueberry pancakes. (Is it possible to have too many blueberries?)
