Fifteen Spatulas is a weekly cooking video series sharing simple recipes from scratch. The purpose is to show cooks of all levels that cooking from scratch is much easier than they may think.

Easy Rice Pudding Recipe:
Serves 3-4

Ingredients:
1/2 cup long-grain white rice
⅓ cup sugar
¼ tsp salt
3.5 cups whole milk
2 tsp vanilla paste
¼ cup heavy cream

Directions:
Place rice in a nonstick pan, and add the sugar, salt, and milk. Give that a stir and bring to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to medium low and cook for 35 minutes until the rice is soft and the liquid has cooked down a lot. Make sure it never comes to a full rolling boil, and stir every five minutes.

Turn the heat off and add the vanilla paste and heavy cream.

Chill the rice pudding for at least 4 hours, then the rice pudding can be served. Enjoy!

  1. delicious! we make an indian version called kheer with dried fruits, saffron and spices. It's absolutely divine.

  2. It looks awesome! I usually boil the milk first and add 2 or 3 cinnamon sticks then add the rice. Sometimes we add raisins while is cooking and it also add an extra sweetness to the pudding. Love it!

  3. lol @ Ridiculous, sometimes that truly is the best word to describe food. can't wait to try this !

  4. SO easy!!!! I never thought I can make it with long grain rise! I thought only arborio will do but this is amazing recipe!!! Thank you!

  5. It is so sad to me to watch this being lactose intolerant… I sure hope if I replace regular milk for any of my milks (soy, almond, hazelnut or coconut) and the heavy cream for coconut cream will taste as good…

  6. I am no cook. I hate faffing. this was brilliant. it is 'just' rice pudding. I tried it with lactose free ingredients. Omg. sensational. but even though I put much less sugar in than you I still found it a tad sweet. but I find lactose free milk quite sweet so I'll just put less sugar in. thank you thank you thank you. o. and I sprinkled mine with a little nutmeg to kind of resemble my mams Sunday desert when she was alive.
