This week, we’re featuring **Bed-Stuy.**

This will include the area labeled as **Bedford**, **Stuyvesant Heights**, **Ocean Heights** and **Weeksville** in the unofficial [Google Map overlay](https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1VYN-6Vkk01byUCF7P13rT6ORT5g) as a GENERAL outline as to what the neighborhoods are.

(A more accurate map is [Google Maps boundaries](https://maps.app.goo.gl/8MGUWQszzXfTfHCH6). Weeksville is kind of cut between Crown Heights and Bed-Stuy)

Some optional prompts:

* What are some of your favorite food spots or “hidden gems”?
* Any “must have” or go to dishes from those particular spots?
* Are there any points of interest or events that is worth going out of the way to visit?

L’Antagoniste has been there a long time I hear it is good

  2. Winona’s is a nice spot, just went there once for brunch and was pleasantly surprised

Macosa Trattoria has good pasta and cozy vibe, highly recommend.

Ursula has a great breakfast burrito

Little Grenjai is great Thai, hopefully opening back up soon

Warude is a nice lunch bowl type spot, although I find their portions a bit small for me

  3. Feel like I’ve missed several weeks of these, but I’ve got lots of Bed-Stuy recs! West to east:

    * Clementine Bakery: Vegan pastries and sandwiches really have no business being this tasty.
    * The Fly: Primarily a wine bar, but also serving up some really succulent rotisserie chicken. Seasoned fries are also a must.
    * Martha’s Cocina Mexicana: Newcomer that’s already become very popular. Great tacos, quesadillas, and enchiladas. (The mole enchiladas might be the best I’ve ever had.) Rice and beans are on point, too.
    * Fan Fan Donuts: Formerly Dough, and I believe with one of the same owners. Tons of great flavors.
    * Chilo’s: Primarily a bar with a great mezcal selection, but perhaps even better known for their taco truck in the back.
    * Brooklyn Kolache: If you don’t know what kolaches are, look ’em up, then book it over. Sweet and savory both available, the latter in meat and vegetarian varieties. Great place to grab a TooGoodToGo surprise bag, too, though it’s best to go early if you can, as they make all the kolaches for the day in the morning, and once they’re gone, they’re gone.
    * Bombay Heights: The go-to Indian spot, especially for takeout and delivery. Friendly owners, been there for years.
    * Abu’s Homestyle Bakery, Ali’s Trinbago Roti Shop, and A&A Bake Doubles and Roti: Putting these three together cause the real move is to just ease on down Fulton until you’re stuffed.
    * Swell Dive: Mainly a bar, but also serving great Filipino-inspired tacos.
    * Shipwreck Seafood Boutique: They just moved around the block to Nostrand, and while they’re primarily a fishmonger, they also have a kitchen in the back putting out delicious fried seafood, sandwiches, lobster rolls, etc. Joe and the crew are very devoted to the neighborhood.
    * Samurai Papa: Gotta be the best ramen in the neighborhood.
    * Natural Herbal Store: Not a restaurant, but you know that obscure spice or spice mix you’ve been scouring the city for? They have it here. Everything from allspice to za’atar.
    * David’s Brisket House: Old-school kosher deli, now Muslim-owned, maybe the best place in the neighborhood to get the meat sweats.
    * Doctor’s Cave Café: Jean and Tim are the best, and they make the most delicious Caribbean-inspired dishes with fresh ingredients every day.
    * Peaches HotHouse: About as close as you can get to the South in Brooklyn.
    * Guacuco: Delicious Venezuelan spot, I believe this is their second location after one in Bushwick.
    * Saraghina: Probably the most popular pizza spot in the neighborhood, and for good reason. Not a slice shop, but a great place to go with a group and share a few different pies.
    * Grandchamps: Great Haitian spot with an awesome griot sandwich that comes with delicious, incredibly flavorful broth for dipping. Nice space, too.

Shout-out to places I haven’t hit yet but have heard good things about: Dept. of Culture (one of these days it will be possible to get a reservation less than two months out), Ursula (sorry, Crown Heights, she’s ours now), Bunny, Macosa Trattoria, Maya Congee Cafe, Brown Butter, Stuy Burgers, Trad Room, Winfield’s Diner, Cuts & Slices.

Also, not a restaurant, but shout out to The Word Is Change bookstore. Awesome selection particularly of leftist political theory, Black history, LGBTQ history, etc.
