Looks like mold.
IIRC It’s the kind of mold that grows on dairy products. , have had the same growing on a creme fraiche I had in the fridge for too long. I don’t know whether it’s still safe to consume

I would throw it out or return it to the store

What’s the packaging like, sometimes die from the paper can leak into the cheese.
Had it happen a couple of times on a warm day, out paper being green gingham doesn’t help 😅.
Either way cheese looks fine, cut the red bits off if you are bothered.

i would still eat it. just cut the spots off. you say it smells fine, so it should be fine.

Red mold ok, pink mold bad. But if you’re in any doubt, return it to the store.

See this occasionally I n the soft cheese my company produces. Quite often a yeast if the cheese is quite old, the Penicillium camemberti that form the rind often outcompete any other moulds that will try and grow, but it’s not unheard of. It’s more than likely just on the surface so cut it off if you like and enjoy the rest of the cheese, but only if you are not able to take it back to the store for a replacement.

Some people have been known to inject food products with tainted blood here in the uk. I wouldn’t touch that.

Did you bite it directly?? Best to cut of the amount you want with a clean, dry knife in the future.

The real question is what kind of monster eats Brie just taking a big bite?

The cheese is aging into womanhood, apparently…
