Hi everyone! Welcome to our first episode of Cooking With Friends! I am so glad you are here! Today, we crash my friends Anthony and Malyssah Haldermans Housewarming party! So I brought some tropical themed meats!
The gift that keeps on giving…
Lets get into it!
Tiki Garlic Teriyaki Beef Skewers
2 Pounds Beef, cut into strips
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil
1/4 Cup Sesame Oil
2/3 Cup Soy Sauce
1/2 Cup Sugar
2 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
3 Heaping Tablespoons Minced Garlic
1 Tbsp Ginger (I used freeze-dried, reduce to 1/2 Tbsp, but fresh works just as well)
Pineapple Chunks
Pepper Chunks ( I used Sweet Bell)
Sweet Onion Chunks
Green Onion for Garnish (And Flavor. Tasty garnish is tasty!)
This is the epitome of Simple cooking.
Mix your oils, garlic, ginger, seeds, sugar, and soy sauce, whisking into a bowl. Once blended, dunk that sliced meat into its oily bath, and let it chill in the fridge for a minimum of two hours. I went for about four, but hey, do you. If you get impatient, at least give it the two…
Now. Easy. Spear that meat onto your skewer, making sure to give yourself a nice chunk of meat, followed by your pineapple chunk, your onion chunk, and your pepper chunk. Repeat until the skewer is full!
Repeat as much as you want. Ill be honest, I ran out of veggies about 8 skewers in. So I loaded the rest with straight up meat overload. I really enjoyed the veggies, believe me, but true, unadulterated meat hedonism was a thing of culinary beauty.
Now grill those sumbishes. Turning them every now and again to check doneness. Open the grill dramatically at one point and proclaim yourself a meat-wizard. Grill until tasty.
Thank you to the Halderman family for hosting us, and for plying us with alcohol afterwards. We had a blast on what will be our inaugural episode of Cooking With Friends. Amazing fun.
And remember…always…
Eat. Your. Art.
