Years ago, we were fortunate enough to learn about [Woodlot on Palmerston](https://www.blogto.com/eat_drink/2020/08/woodlot-closed-toronto/). We had many anniversary and delightfully chill gourmet meals there. *Every* single item we ordered over the years was some of the best food we had eaten in our lives. The atmosphere was cozy in a way that let people come in a bit more dressed up, or relax with wine in jeans. But of course, it’s gone now.

I’m looking for a similar restaurant in terms of food quality and vibe, though I’m happy to be flexible on the price point. I’d love to find something that specializes in seasonal and more local selections as well. I’d love to stay somewhere in the core/near subway lines too if possible, so that we can walk around before and after a meal. Any suggestions?

Not the core, but Maybe Wynona in the east end?

Some of the woodlot people are at parquet though that is more french. I haven’t tried though, seemed pricy for food served when they opened and haven’t check in in on it since.

ohh yeah, woodlot was great and definitely very unique, … i honestly can’t think of a similar restaurant, but some other suggestions would be enoteca sociale (has a chic but rustic feel at the same time) or maybe dreyfus/bernhardt’s?

The hen of the woods mushroom salad is one of the best things I’ve eaten, as is a pork chop I had there. Sad to learn it’s gone. Farmhouse tavern has a nice laid back atmosphere and good food, but nothing like woodlot.

Woodlot was an institution in its own right. They paved and pushed dining in Toronto for their time. Hen of the woods mushroom was top notch. Loved that place and the ambiance. Simple good food

Lake Inez has that same vibe that Woodlot had. While the food is a different style, it’s still that refined, but simple ingredient driven cuisine without any pretentiousness.

  7. Woodlot was good before it turned into that Italian pos restaurant- then it folded without notice.
