Wow, this is not a great list of “award winning” restaurants.

This looks mostly like the list from about 2010. Do they not realize there are now dramatically better options in most of these categories?

This list is fucking garbage. They should be ashamed.

This town really does run on a populist, hype-based economy.
Has anyone *ever* eaten at Pho Phong Luu and said “Yeah, not as good as Elizabeth Street”?

This list is absolutely ridiculous

I ate at Este the other night…honestly I wanted to be blown away but it was just okay. It was all fine. I will say, the dessert (corn cake) was hands down the best part of the meal. I would not call it best of anything, unfortunately.
I was SO PUMPED for the CAMARONES “EL RICAS” – sounded like it was going to be a fantastic and flavorful shrimp dish. They told me to eat the shells because “people dont know you can eat the whole thing if you cook it a certain way”…and I did. (not all of them because I just couldn’t keep going).
I’m waiting for my episode of Candid Camera to air.

As an old Austinite, I stopped taking those polls seriously when I first moved to Austin.

There are some decent picks on here but some make no sense. Ramen Tatsuya for best solo dining award? What?
Edit: They also gave them best ramen award. Ain’t no way.

What an absolute trash list. The chronicle should be ashamed

This is a popularity contest with the bigger local places being able to have more reach to “get out the votes”. At least the readers poll is. I usually just look at the critics section.
