We took a little day trip up north and decided to walk around the town square today.
Found this cringe worthy dress code notice outside of this restaurant on the big menu board.

What’s wrong with people?

What is the problem with a very mild dress code at a steakhouse?

  2. That’s not Texas formal, that’s business casual.

  3. NYC_HB_ATX

Your in G-town not ATX. It’s a good laugh.

This is not uncommon at fine dining establishments such as steakhouses. While VY doesn’t enforce a dress code, they do have similar preferences. Bob’s has a dress code and it’s enforced. So it’s a thing … to keep an aire of decency or whatever for a nice ($) meal out. I have no problem with it. “Sir, this is *not* a Wendy’s.”

What’s wrong with you? This isn’t uncommon in pretty much every single city I’ve ever lived in, and it’s actually kinda sad that they have to put it in writing.

Ruth’s Chris has a similar code. If you wear those things you’re eating in the bar. This isn’t weird or cringe to me.

  7. I feel like this is the case at most upscale steakhouse type places, seems pretty normal to me.

  8. This is pretty common at higher end steakhouses all over the country

  9. the_brytt

What’s weirder to me is the misspelling of “Tenderoin” in pic 3! 😜

  10. Metholoxy

I don’t see a problem with that for a steakhouse

Agreeing with OP. What year is it?

It’s their business. They’re free to enforce a perfectly reasonable dress code.

  13. QueefsOfTheBonerAge

I’m going to go back tomorrow and write the username of everyone disagreeing with me using my own diarrhea on the walls of the restroom

  14. AMediocreWhiteGuy

Oh no, QueefsOfTheBonerAge is mad about the dress code!

    I’m sure they care.

  15. Broken_Sandwich

If you ever go to the Dallas area dress code like this is all over the place. Not uncommon at all

What is the issue with putting the tiniest bit of care into your appearance for a nice dinner? I wish more people did so without the restaurant having to put the most obvious and basic of dress guidelines in writing. Eating at Bohanan’s in shorts is…not something to brag about.

  17. FoolsGoldMouthpiece

The only part that is kinda cheesy is the ‘classy but never pretentious’. But the dress code seems perfectly reasonable for a steakhouse to me

How did you feel about establishments asking customers to wear masks in their businesses during COVID? It’s their business, their rules, right?

Same thing, no different. No one is forcing you to eat there so no one is forcing you to adhere to their dress code.

I’m with the restaurant on this one. I live next to a “high end” restaurant here in Austin that’s very popular, slammed every night, and when I go on my daily jogs I always see people going in looking like slobs. It’s dinner service and dudes are going in with shorts and their university jerseys and women are going in their crocs and yoga pants. Dress up. So what if a restauranteur is trying to make a nice space for the people of Georgetown to go dine at. We need more of that here in Austin.

Just because you want to look like trash in nice places doesn’t mean it’s ok to do so. It’s a steakhouse for cryin out loud, try giving a tiny little shit about your appearance. It actually makes you feel good.

  21. There’s a lesson to be learned here, but I don’t know enough about lessons to be learned. Lemme get my expert u/QueefsOfTheBonerAge . Holy shit dood how’d you go full shit on the walls!? LOL, thanks for the entertaining post. No, srsly.
