Picked up groceries today, $41.11 total. I’m curious, how many meals would you get from this with a stocked spices and dry goods pantry. Nuggets are the best deal I can find on them and are an always safe food for my 6 year old who is working on trying new foods but it’s hit or miss. We are a family of 3, how far could you make this last?

To add: we totally eat vegetables too! We are coming off csa and gardening season so there’s cabbage, lettuce, beets, leeks, chard, kale, apples, and so much squash around.

welll the hot dogs only last me one day. mainly cuz i don’t fix anything with it to fill me up so i cook 4 of them then a few hours later before i go to bed i end up cooking the other 4 cuz they keep talking to me … that’s just the way i eat tho I’m single no family so i don’t really have a normal schedule or family to work around or cater to …

as a single person i hate to come up with multiple things to eat at one meal so i end up eating more of one thing at one meal. plus its cheaper that way, maybe not healthier tho …

  3. like two weeks or 40 meals if i made them all balanced by adding more vegetables than what’s pictured

Damn this is actually impressive. It’s just my wife and I, and we spend roughly $150 a week.

Back before I landed a solid job, I would say that EBT (Food Stamps) was my life saver. In California it would easily help me buy all the groceries for the week (Talking mainly microwave stuff, Costco was the go to also since be could buy in bulk and freeze) and that always came out to roughly $60 and lasted 2 weeks. It’s tougher with a kid, especially a picky eater.

I hope you all find a way though 🙏 sending my best wishes 🙏

This would last me a while (disclaimer: I don’t have a family to take care of). Freezer is your best friend. You have a lot of protein options so I would keep whatever I’m not using that week in the freezer and defrost the amount for the week. You can even freeze the bologna if you wanted to. To make the pasta and potatoes last I would make it a side instead of an entree. If you have chicken broth you can make a ham based soup with the green onion and pasta. As I type I keep seeing combinations but it’ll be too many to list. Good luck!

This is a great list of meals you can make with leftover ham: [https://www.spendwithpennies.com/leftover-ham-recipes/](https://www.spendwithpennies.com/leftover-ham-recipes/)

I’d use the ham and split peas in soup, and the ham and pasta in macaroni and cheese. Potatoes are very useful in many applications, including scalloped, which you an also add ham to if you wish.

I’d cut up the turkey (or is it a chicken) for multiple meals, including stock with the bones.
two meals from breasts (plus sandwiches), one meal from the legs, one meal from the thighs. A 5lb bag of potatoes is 4 meals for my family of three – could also be topping for a pot pie with any of your meats. A biscuit topping is cheap and easy too, if you’ve got flour, baking powder, and butter or similiar.

Its tough, I look at this and see lots of food, but not full meals. I grew up on fried bologna, in sandwiches, and hot dogs were added to mac and cheese. that ham bone is a gift though, please dont waste that. 🙂

Not including the nugz I feel like that’s enough meat, dogs, and Bologna for over 40 meals

  8. AkaminaKishinena

Potato soup with half the bag of potatoes, garnish with some ham or fried diced bologna to be like pancetta. 🙂

    Roast chicken with roasted potatoes

Chicken soup with carcass as stock and remaining meat

    Pea soup with ham

    Ham with cabbage

Pasta with ham (need peas or another veg)

Not a hot dog nor bologna person but I’d probably eat the dogs with beans if I had a can, and the bologna with eggs for a scramble if I had any.

I can f with the Bologna and franks lol. But this would last me a few weeks at least. I eat once or twice a day.

I can eat the whole bag of Dino nugs in one sitting.

1-Baked ham with fried potatoes and onions, -2-ham and cheese casserole with half the noodles but need a bit of milk and shredded cheese. 3-baked half chicken, mash potatoes and split peas with small ham chunks. 4- Other half chicken, for chicken casserole with other half of noodles topped with onions with milk and cheese. 5- pancake and fried Winnie’s. 6- biscuit and friend bologna with shredded potatoes and onions. Not including the chicken nuggets for the baby for snacks.. that’s just off the top of my head.

If you make mashed potatoes, turn the leftovers into potato pancakes! I just made them with cubed ham inside them and they were delicious and a great way to use up some leftovers.

  13. Over 7 lbs of ham for $13?! Is that normal??

    I pay $16-$18 for about 1.5 lbs (700g)
