Charle’s Pan Fried Chicken earlier today in the park. Heard this place mentioned a few times before and it was really good. The cornbread and fried chicken was probably the best I’ve had since moving up here a few years ago. Also a lot of food so for $19 could easily split two ways. Have a nice day.

The best.
Riverside park?
Looks so good! On my list now
Not a southern food expert at all. I’ve always heard a dead giveaway that a joint is not authentic if they have cornbread instead of sliced white bread like they do down south. Is this true?
EDIT: why am I being downvoted for asking a question?
Cornbread is the Southern way, Texas is not in the South
Unless you grew up on it cornbread sucks no matter how well made.
Try the fried chicken at **Bobwhite Counter**! Best you can get in the city. I think you’ll be impressed.
This also looks really good, though.
What’s the side dish? Can’t tell if that’s mashed sweet potatoes/yams or just a fuck ton of cheddar cheese.
Didn’t know I had one not that far from me
Next time get the lima beans!
OK, glad to hear this! I’d heard some mixed reviews, but you can’t really trust reviews of Southern food in this city if you don’t know the person’s background. It certainly looks good, and if he’s actually serving real cornbread and not corn cake, it will be worth the trip from Brooklyn! Thanks for sharing!
I keep reading your user name as Jewsie and I find that adorable (I am Jewish)
Ok my favorite food like this is bob whites counter. It hits every time
Ummm how far South? Please don’t say Virginia or something because 99% of all “Southern” food here is straight dumpster worthy
I’ve heard good things about it but can’t stomach paying $18 for 3 pieces of fried chicken, no matter how good the chicken and sides are!
