I made pickles this fall and the other night I noticed that one jar has some mold on the rim. The pickles look fine, and I’m sure they are, but I think I’m gonna toss this one jar.
I’m just curious what would cause this?
My best guess is that it didn’t seal properly and some juice leaked out? I set the jar upside down and don’t see a leak.

Clean the rim before you open it. All this is is that you didn’t clean the threads before you stored it. If the jar is sealed and not moldy on the inside, the pickles are fine!
Probably siphoned a little on the threads, you should wipe your jars after they’ve cooled and sealed before storing to avoid this.
I always wash my jars once they have cooled and store without the rings.
