I arrived for the 7:30 PM seating and the server let me in and laughed a bit. I was the only person there! They had two large parties that both cancelled night of so it was just me alone at the bar seated right in front of the chef.
It was a great night, the head chef was awesome and happy to talk about where they source each ingredient… and about our love of Shohei Ohtani and dreams of him coming to the Dodgers. He suggested different foods to try during my upcoming trip to Japan.
Highlights of the meal were the Ocean Pearch belly, egg custard, Unagi, and seared Golden Eye Snapper (forgot to include an image). All in with drinks and an optional dish (Tiger Prawn) the meal was $480. Of all the Omakase I’ve had in LA this meal is tied with 715 as my favorite.

Awesome! I had a similar fortunate experience with Chef Mori when he was at Inn Ann at Hollywood and Highland. No big cancellation, and there were a few tables with couples seated at them, but I was the only one at the sushi bar and had his undivided attention. It was an absolutely incredible evening, one that will never be replicated and will probably keep me from ever forking up the $$$ for Morihiro simply because I doubt it’ll ever be topped
