There are interesting questions and answers that other Redditors have provided in the past, and to prevent the same questions from coming up. But again, I will still offer my humble opinion on recommendations or food in Vietnam.
So I won’t repeat myself a lot here. For context, I spent 16 years with my folks in Hanoi before moving to the States 11 years ago. This list went on to this level of detail now because of this community. And I thank you for it.
The list has stayed somewhat the same. “Em Kitchen (not bistro)” made the list. I’m doing a detailed write-up on them. For all the entries that did not get a detailed post, I gave a brief comment next to each entry so you get a sense of how I go about it. This is my personal take so please, disagree with me.
And yes, for all the folks hounding me for the Avenue U, I still haven’t got to it. It’s so damn far away from where I live. And It’s not like I can hop around more than 1 restaurant at a time.
The link is the same and will be updated on a monthly basis:

If you want to read about northern pho origin stories through folk tales and anecdotes, you can read them [here](https://www.tuuthreee.com/imnotafoodblogger/2021/10/9/pho-how-it-came-to-be).
Phor the pholks that only wants pho only, here is a dedicated list:

Many thanks for this!
Thank you for your service 🙏
Any thoughts on Saiguette?
Love your lists! I’m one of those pho-only folks. I heartily agree with you on Em and Hanoi House. I haven’t made it yet to di an di or high lua, but hope to soon.
I’m surprised though to see Pasteur on the list. I was there a few weeks ago and found it somewhat mediocre. But maybe I’ll give it another shot!
Will be using this list!
The dac biet at Falansai was very enjoyable, so looking forward to trying out the higher ranked spots
Know any places aside from Banh with good bun cha Hanoi?
great content, thank you.
Interesting. I’m Vietnamese and I’ve had bun dau mam tom in Vietnam and in the states, and I was not impressed with Mam. I found each dish underwhelming or just fine and the drinks small and watered down.
Any spots for Bun Cha?
Saved! Also what are your thoughts on non la in the east village?
Best Bun Bo Hue recommendation?
Great list! Mostly agree, but surprised at missing 5ive Spice?
Would love if you could expand on your thoughts on Banh.
Thanks
My review for Monsieur Vo is mostly positive, but mixed.
+ Decor and service
+ App – Beef Tartare
+ App – Bone Marrow
The abovementioned apps were really delicious! Highly recommended!

+- Main – Monsieur Platter
This was ok at best. It wasn’t very big, none of the meats were that noteworthy, and it was quite expensive at $48. I probably could have taken it down myself, but I was sharing it with my GF. It didn’t leave me totally satiated to the point that I was considering hopping on line at the nearby 7th St Burger.
