  1. (1)I MOST DEFINITELY WASHED MY HANDS AFTER HANDLING THE CHICKEN. I'VE ALWAYS REGRETTED EDITING IT OUT. HECK YEAH AVOID CROSS CONTAMINATION AT ALL TIMES. SO IF YOU WERE WONDERING, OF COURSE I WASHED MY HANDS. (2)YES THERE IS GUMBO FILE IN THIS RECIPE. I EDITED IT OUT OF THE FOOTAGE BY MISTAKE BUT IT IS ON THE WRITTEN RECIPE. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF LEARNING HOW TO EDIT 7 YEARS AGO AND BABY I LEARNED FROM THIS VIDEO WHAT TO LEAVE IN, AND OUT, WHEN EDITING AND BE MORE MINDFUL OF WHAT I'M DOING DURING "POST PRODUCTION" TO MAKE SURE MY POINT IS DRIVEN HOME AND THE AUDIENCE GETS THE POINT. (3) NO, I DID NOT ADD OKRA BECAUSE MY FAMILY AND I DON'T LIKE IT. HOWEVER, YOU MAY ADD IT TO THE POT WITH THE CHICKEN OR TOWARDS THE END OF THE COOKING PROCESS, MAYBE THE LAST 30 MINUTES OR SO, DEPENDING ON HOW YOU PREFER THE TEXTURE.   3. I watched this video to make my very first pot of gumbo. It turned out great I fed 16 people with it and they all said it taste like real gumbo.

  4. Great job! I wish my mom, grandmom, etc. (from Louisiana)  had made me try the roux.  I just stood and watched them stir and stir! Anyway I liked that little story and the gumbo looks just like what I'm used to!

  5. I made this tonight it was very good my family loved it! Only thing I did different was I didn't have any chicken broth so I boiled my chicken breast for about an hour (I didn't have boneless) and cut the meat off the bone then used the liquid I boiled the chicken in as my broth it worked out wonderfully and I also added crawfish tailmeat with the shrimp. I will make this again!

  6. Carolyn I cooked gumbo yesterday using your step-by-step video. I am extremely pleased with the end results.  I've had some very good gumbo, but this batch of gumbo put the others to shame.  My husband loved it!  Thanks to you I now feel like I can make the PERFECT pot of gumbo whenever I please.
