My triglycerides are high. What now?

My reaction to my results…. UGH and yikes.

So, I’m a 31F. I live an active life. I do mostly yoga, although I’m starting to add in a bit of cycling, cardio, and Pilates here and there. I’ve been vegan for 10 years.

I eat fairly well… but obviously something in my diet is off because my triglycerides have gone up nearly 100 points since last year, which I find to be a drastic increase. I eat whole grains, fruits, vegetables, salads, soups during the day, and for most dinners, my partner and I cook Purple Carrot meals. I do, however, eat out quite often. And I’ve also developed this horrible habit of snacking after dinner, like on chips (Siete chips are my addiction…). I don’t eat too many sweets, and when I do, it’s as clean as possible (like Siete cookies). When I eat out, I do tend to order whatever I’m in the mood for, which can be anywhere from ethnic food, to “chickun” sandwiches, to burgers, pastas, pizzas, and everything in between lol. I will admit, I do love my carbs….

All of my other bloodwork is amazing. My HA1c is 4.9%. My blood pressure has always been less than 115/76. I’m 5’4 and 145 lbs. (I know I could lose some weight. It’s a goal of mine).

I’m wondering if the fact this was a non-fasting test has any effect on the result. I’ve also been sedentary this week due to healing a shoulder injury.

Any tips on how I can lower my cholesterol?
