#garden #gardening #gardentour
In march/April 2023 i decided to take a 2 month break from social media and my political youtube channel and have a full on social media detox.
The 2 hours a day i would normally spend flicking through my phone i spent building a vegetable garden and made raised garden beds with pallets

was a fun watch, and a fun talk on the Premiere o/
I really think that is amazing. I started growing stuff a few years ago, but my dad became unwell and my time was taken up caring for him. Think 2024 I will start again. Home grown tomatoes are the best. My granddad used to have a massive greenhouse and grew loads of veg. I have an apple tree which I eat from.
But, I agree with you, politics all the time makes Jill a dull girl.
I started studying psychology this year and it is going so well. I am really enjoying it.
Keep it up! 👍
Loved this, I really enjoy home grown veg, it tastes so much better, well done for putting the time in and it’s so worth it for that special taste when you finally get to eat it. Look forward to what you will grow next summer.
Your tool shed is a piece of Art!
It looks naturally deconstructed and beautifully weathered!
Can we please have a good look at it in another video?
Dig a nice big pond and get all the soil you need. I love ponds…
The compost could develop faster if you put some accelerator onto it. I use Westland's Garotta though other brands are available! If you sow too many seeds you can always thin out the seedlings once they are big enough to pull without ruining them. They can then be planted elsewhere. As for the potatoes they can be left in the ground for ages. I have harvested some as late as the following March. Main thing to look out for is potato blight. If your potato plant is blighted don't put it into the compost but bin it otherwise you will have blight back when you use the compost. I hope you make some more gardening videos next year! As for political burnout I don't do videos but I fully agree that you have to find a way to stop fretting about the state of the country at least for some part of the week! Gardening is a great way to do it.
No.1 Get stuck in ✅
You'll learn as you go 😊
Try to source some ex mushroom soil medium, fine as a growing medium.
Look for horse manure to put in the compost heap, they usually give it away for free.
What band is the music you’re playing?
You should check out an Australian guy Self Sufficient Me he has lots of advice on raised beds.
Well can safely say many of your root vegetables are probably smarter than a member of the government
My advice is to follow the concept of no-dig gardening. I have have a veg garden for years but now garden on almost solid clay on the banks of the river Aveyron in France then I found no-dig via Charles Dowding, the guru! his videos are superb and I've never, ever had better production. Have a look. Will save you lots of work. By the way your raised beds are much too deep. Don't need to be more than a couple of feet at most. Bon courage!
Put your compost ingredients under your soil and grow your veg on top. Look up Hugel kultur & lasagne gardening – simplifies composting and finding soil
‘A change is as good as a rest.’ Well done, Van Man!
I tried this and i was amazed at what people will politize
Comment for you. Have a good family Christmas.
Well done mark and good for you .
What would've been interesting would be to calculate how much off your weekly shopping bill did your vegetable patch give you .
Especially now with the cost of living crises you may be on to a new craze of people growing their own .
