I can’t visit NC without making at least a few of these. Merita white bread, Duke’s mayonnaise, some fresh ground black pepper, and a couple thick slices of Neese’s livermush.
For most things I don’t think brand names matter so much, and in this case if probably doesn’t either, but these are the brands I mostly had when I used to live here, and the very slight differences mean that I like this combo the best.
It’s the worst sounding thing in the world, I know. But it’s amazing. It’s like a superior, spiced version of liverwurst or braunschweiger. I don’t even like liver, but this is one of my favorite simple sandwiches in the world.

I love liver, liverwurst, scrapple, etc. But I’ve never had this. I MUST try it! I’m just outside Philly. Where do I find this?
Is livermush similar to liver wurst? This looks like a sandwich I would absolutely love to try. It also looks like it could maybe use some onion and tomato, though I tend to throw those on pretty much everything.

My momma used to make this but with liverwurst. It looked almost exactly the same. I love those…

Is livermush like pate or chopped liver?

one of the things I joke about is that I can never leave NC because I would miss livermush too much. I don’t even eat it all that often but when the craving hits, I *need* it. I used to stop by a gas station in Vale on my way to work and get a livermush biscuit in the morning, probably way more than I should have. on my last day at that job, my manager threw a “livermush biscuit party” send-off, haha.
team mustard, grape jelly on livermush biscuit or sandwich doesn’t do it for me.
