Best Italian Zeppole – Fried Dough – итальянский пончики – Italian donuts – Street fair #Zeppoli #Zeppole at home 😋 easy and delicious!
– 4 cups of all purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon of salt
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
– 1 teaspoon instant dry yeast
– 1/4 cup of sugar
– 3 cups of warm water
– Vegetable oil for frying
– Powdered sugar, granulated sugar, or cinnamon-sugar, for dusting the fried zeppole
Mix all the above ingredients, wooden spoon works well. You should get a bit thicker than pancake consistency. Cover it and let it rise for one to two hours in a warm place. It should double in size and look soft/ jiggly and bubbly. Heat 2-3 inches of oil in a pan. Oil your hands or spoon and drop a dollop into a hot vegetable oil. Flip once they’re golden brown until fully cooked, both sides. Some may just flip on their own when they’re ready, that’s fine. Once done, transfer on to a plate lined with a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
Dust with confectionery sugar or you can place either of the sugars in a brown paper bag, add the warm, fried zeppole, and shake to coat. Serve immediately while it’s warm 😋
