Cafe on 27 is a popular restaraunt in the Topanga/SM Mountains area. See their Glassdoor reviews, plus my evidence from my time working at their partner business, Shop On 27. They owe me hundreds of dollars. If you prefer to shop ethically, I don’t recommend supporting a business that violates wage and labor laws.

Best to find a lawyer at this point. They legally can not deducted that lock change from you. That is an owners problem.
Wow that’s insane but at least you are going to labor board they will have to pay much more than if they had done the right thing…smh shame on them

It seems like one employee was unhappy there. I know several people who have worked there under the most recent management who really enjoyed it. Idk, hard to base all of this on one disgruntled employee who felt learning small talk as a server was a skill they didn’t have. That’s kind of a large part of serving (said as a former server who worked at a similar restaurant close by)
You’re going to wait a loooooong time for the DOL to do anything about it. I have a pending wage claim that barely entered “under investigation” mode that I submitted 8 months ago.
