I was very excited for this salsa since I like Pace Hot salsa. Unfortunately, they have fallen into a trap that is becoming all too familiar in the spice world…
Extracts.
This salsa is fine, and the spice level is good, but there is ZERO ghost or habanero flavor in here because there is no ghost or habanero in the actual salsa. Extracts add heat but they DO NOT taste good. They also affect some people differently than peppers do. There is zero excuse for using extracts in this salsa. In fact, the main flavor of the sauce comes from the cayenne pepper sauce and crushed red chilis which isn’t what you would expect in a Ghost/Hab advertised salsa.
Stop being cheap. Stop using spicy peppers for marketing reasons when you don’t even use them in your product. Do better.

This is kind of parallel with the cannabis market, via vapes. They add terpenes for flavor after the fact, but not from the actual cannabis being used for the vape. Not all of them do this though, just like the salsa biz. Both are a ripoff.

Honestly, I just expect trash from pace and never give it a chance. There are so many options for good salsa. No reason to compromise. I would be pissed if I bought this, I really dislike extracts most of the time. They never agree with my stomach either.

I don’t understand how it could be more cost effective to purchase a product of an item rather than just the item itself. Wouldn’t it also just be easier to add ghost peppers to the mash rather than an extract?
Any salsa that doesn’t come refrigerated is already a no-buy for me. Pace is trash.

Mrs. Renfro’s makes the best ghost pepper salsa I’ve had (and best salsa in general IMO.)
They’ll keep doing it if they’re able to. Not like the government will do anything about misleading marketing

lame. Both of those are very delicious peppers in their own right.
Thanks, I probably would’ve picked this up otherwise. That being said if you drop a couple of ghost peppers into pace and put it into a blender it comes out pretty tasty.

Mrs Renfro Ghost Pepper Salsa is my go to, every time. I would buy 2 or 3 if they’re on sale.
That’s upsetting. I LOVE the HOT one and have since I was a kid(46 now). I purchased a can but haven’t opened it yet. I usually make all my own salsa and by the sounds of it, just might keep making it.

Email Pace customer support. If enough people complain and/or stop buying it, they might revise the recipe.
