I’ve got multiple smokers but this Longhorn Reverse Flow by Oklahoma Joe can pack some meat with the added Grate from BBQsmokermods! I’d highly recommend for others, not sure if anyone else uses Lava lock brand items, etc? Cheap and effective. Much love from Florida 🫡🌴

That’s a lot of brisket for beginners bro

What other modifications have you made? I can’t make up my mind between getting one of these, I believe it’s the Highland model, or a WSM for my first real smoker.

The best smoker I have come across for beginners in owning many charcoal grills and smokers is Chargriller XD series. I bought one at Home Depot a couple of years ago for less than $600. The construction is much better than any Oklahoma Joes and unlike the OJ’s the XD comes with a very sturdy charcoal burner tray in the bottom so it can also be used as a standard grill or indirect cooker.

I’m predicting anything on the top rack will be Burt to a crisp. Maybe wrap them early and rotate often. Better yet I wouldn’t use the top rack at all except hotdogs or sausage. Or you can learn on your own … brisket is cheap right?

Yes, all the beginners I know smoke 4 to 5 briskets at a time.
