One of my favorite seafood dishes from Mexico is Shrimp Cocktail. It is a family staple and I love making it often. The best part is it is easy to do because all you are doing is prepping and assembling. This recipe does not require any cooking at all. I guarantee you, once you make this you will feel like you are on a trip to a local beach restaurant in Tijuana or Ensenada.

All right to start off with our main ingredient you’re gonna need some shrimp now I’ve done this where I’ve actually cooked the shrimp and I’ve also just used cooked shrimp to be honest I do not see a difference the cooked shrimp it will absorb all that flavor that we’re

Going to be putting into it it’s a lot easier and to be honest if you go to any restaurant well the restaurants near me I can tell that they make it just like this you know they’re just using cooked shrimp mixing all the ingredients adding the tomato sauce and the chili and the

Ketchup and just putting it all together so what I have here is two twelve ounce bags of medium shrimp usually I would buy a large shrimp but our local grocery stores out of large shrimp right now but luckily they had the colossal so I get two 12 ounce bags of either medium or

Large shrimp you know just to have the shrimp inside the cocktail and then to top it I get you know like they show at the restaurant I get colossal size shrimp so this is gonna add you know a nice presentation I do it so that way my

Wife can think that we’re going to the restaurant or something so just just for presentation purposes if you don’t want to do all that you can just get two pounds of shrimp and just mix it all together now when I make this I make a

Lot of it I got two cucumbers chopped up a half of onion chopped up white onion that’s wider yellow onion is fine you can use purple onion or red onion if you’d like three roma tomatoes if you got if they’re nice-sized three if they’re small probably about four or

Five just depending on how big they are and one cup of chopped cilantro now the main ingredient that we’re going to be mixing with is Clamato Clamato is a tomato juice with clam and garlic it’s got all kinds of spice it’s got a nice flavor I actually make a red beer you

Try to find this online because I know you’re probably not going to be able to find this in some supermarkets or you know some areas of the other country but I will try to see if I can find this online somehow this is like one of the main you know hot sauces

Chili I’m or chili I’m or piquant it there’s a lemon version of it that’s really good this is not a really really hot hot sauce this is a very flavorful it says hot but compared to like Tapatio or valentin those hot sauces are kind of spicy top appeals a lot hotter than this

One so yeah just keep that in mind this is this has a really good flavor I use this for like my Mexican snacks Doritos Doritos it’s really good as you know chips it’s really good but yeah this is what we’re gonna be seasoning our shrimp cocktail with then you’re gonna need

Some avocados I use about a half of an avocado per cup that I serve so that’s about six six servings here that we’re gonna be making up so yeah I got three avocados so about half an avocado and I’ll show you how I slice them and

Everything and then I’ll to go in the shrimp cocktail we’re gonna be needing three limes for this big batches I’m doing three limes now once an individual gets there they’re trim cocktail and their cup you got a couple options you can add more chili oil add some add you know a

Squeeze a lime or lemon this one right here is a really good one at Lucca tech oh it’s a habanero chili sauce this one’s a little bit harder this one this one is this one has a little bit of spice but my favorite one when it comes to seafood is Mexico Lindo

Siete matters this is this has a really really good flavor and I actually want to try to replicate this hot sauce on my channel sometime it uses chilli PR it uses tomato paste I’m sorry so yeah till tomato paste along with chili arbol and you know other spices

And stuff like that so this I do want to make a hot sauce kind of like this as if you guys seen in my previous hot sauce video that one was with the pineapple and habanero and other chilies but you can use my patio you can use chili a

Valentin those are all good that you can put in you know your shrimp cocktail and last but not least you need some salad ITA’s these are some mexican crackers if you can’t get it get your hands on these back in the day they used to sell them

And just like a big just like cracker like that and it would be like a pack of seven of them but they changed it up now so it’s just like little smaller smaller size ones but if you can’t find these you can use regular crackers in our bowl

With our cucumber tomato onion and cilantro we’re gonna go ahead and add in our shrimp now this is cold some of the pieces are still kind of frozen you want all of your ingredients cold because we’re just gonna get this mixed and we’re gonna put it back in the

Fridge now the Clamato it’s been sitting in the fridge for probably a couple hours now so we’re just gonna go ahead and open it up and when you open it you want to make sure you shake them I’ve already been shaking it it gets like I guess all the concentrate on the bottom

So you want to go ahead and give it a shake all right so we’re gonna go ahead and add in our line go ahead and start squeeze them in there now I’ve made this from scratch you know actually I learned how originally to make it from scratch but to be honest

It’s a lot easier like this and I don’t see a difference to be honest other than that me lacking some of the flavors of the Clamato because when I make it from scratch I don’t use Clamato so it kind of has that unique flavor to it so that’s why I’ve always made it

Like this because you know Clamato has its own unique flavor so that’s what everybody loves about this dish so now that we have our last lime squeezed in there we’re gonna go ahead and start adding in some chili some of that I’m old hot sauce so we’ll probably go about

Right there I always eye this and then I’ll taste it and just depending on how it tastes will determine if I need more hot sauce or or for good so now we’re gonna be adding in some ketchup and like I said this right here is about all about consistency so go squeeze them

Probably about let’s say a quarter of a cup all right let’s go ahead and give this a mix okay so that’s not the consistency we’re looking for so probably we’ll add us a little bit more ketchup yes okay so right right about there you just need to just a tad bit more ketchup

And we’re probably gonna counter balance that sweetness with a little bit more hot sauce so we’ll just go ahead and add a little bit more just just a little bit there I think we’re good as far as ketchup just a tad bit of hot sauce I

Don’t like trying to give it too much hot sauce because I am gonna be you know my individual serving I am gonna be putting this in there but just to give it like a base so that way just in case somebody doesn’t want it spicy you know

It just has a little bit there okay this is good we don’t need no more season if you feel it needs salt but we got ketchup we got hot sauce we got Clamato in there all of those have hot sodium so I mean you really don’t need

To add salt to this you know so but if you feel it needs salt by all means go ahead and you know season to your taste but the way how it tastes right now will just you know all the ingredients mixed together I’m gonna leave it like that so

What I’m gonna do is I’m gonna put this in the fridge I like to let this sit for at least a good hour so I’m gonna get it in the fridge and I’ll check back with you guys when I build my plate now like I said with the big shrimp I do use

Those just for pretty much presentation but you want them to get flavor too so that’s why you want to make sure all your shrimps in here regardless if you’re using it for presentation or not because this you know mixture here has a lot of flavor so I’m gonna get this in

The fridge and I’ll catch back with you guys in a little bit all right so you want to take a big cup like this is how they would sell it in the restaurants I had to order one of these a long time ago it comes in real handy so we’re gonna go

Ahead and get some good scoops of this cocktail you want to make sure that you get a lot of shrimp I’m gonna fill this all the way up now it’s been sitting for about an hour so the shrimp should be you know be able to absorb some of that

Flavor so we just want to leave a little bit of space right here on top because we’re gonna be adding in some avocado along with our big shrimp now I’m going to show you guys how I slice my avocados and prepare for this you could do many

Ways I’ve we can do it in many different ways you could cut it in chunks and put it in there mix it with the the cocktail but when it comes to the avocado you want to make sure that it’s kind of firm but not like a rock you know usually I

Fill my my avocados you know for this I like to have an avocado where it’s a little firm but if I press it it feels soft on the outside and the reason why I say that because if it’s real mushy you know it’s over right so this for example like like

See how this is like a dark green compared to this right here that’s gonna be a perfect avocado so like I you know when I fill it it’s just a little a little soft on this this part right here but it’s you know this firm so we’re

Gonna take our avocado we’re gonna go ahead and slice little slices just like this okay so we have our slices right so now we’re gonna take a spoon and just we’re just gonna scoop it out just like that that’s what gives you those perfect little slices of avocado now in this

Part you just kind of want to layer it let it sink in alright so now we’re gonna take our big shrimp just put it right here on top let them hang just like that now really all we got to do is just add a couple drops of our hot

Sauce just like that then as you eat it you just mix it together that’s gonna be a wonderful flavor right there I could already feel it just start off these colossal shrimp is always the best part mmm they get all that flavor of that juice so once you devour these then you

Get into the goodness on the bottom so you take your spoon right you can just cut up the avocado and just mix it into your cocktail now when you go for a bite you want to make sure you get a little bit of everything a little bit of

Avocado cucumber some of the onion and a lot of that plum apple in there sweet spicy fresh then take your saltines dip it in the in the juice and just let it get all that flavor mmm what stuff right there I guarantee you if you went to a Mexican

Restaurant that would be easy 16 dollars right there now for that big bowl that I made that was about 36 dollars and I’m going to be able to feed easy six people today they’re there waiting for they’re already eating some of them but uh yeah that you get easy six servings out of
