A friend’s house right now because she just lost she just lost her son so and and before y’all get all crazy crazy crazy for us that have fur babies when I when I say son this is who she lost she lost her fur baby son and
So so I’m about to go over there she had to put them down a little early and stuff like that and on the first of the year that’s crazy wake up your child is your child is like sick sick or whatever and stuff so I’m about to go over there
Help finish cooking with her today and you know just help her get through this pain or would not it’s not easy I know for some of yall that don’t like animals just like what the heck you telling me for I do not care y’all can be on your J
BS somewhere else just not here because we appreciate our fur babies here as much as we appreciate actual living children and when you don’t have children and this is your children you get it like you really get it so you know we going to go over there
And spend a little time with her get her mind back off of it cuz that was a hard thing for her to wake up to do this morning other than that though I just want you know check in with you all or whatnot um your girl’s going through a
Lot of changes herself so you know I got to share all of these things with you guys or what not so I’m making I’mma make a official because I’m going to start a new tradition usually today today usually couple of years ago before I had that little raggedy job that I tell
Y’all about the little raggedy job our family always held a tradition that everybody came to our house on the first we cooked PR probely me like I’m the the main one or whatever like that but my dad has his little things that he make my mom she got her little Specialties
That she make and stuff and we just collectively cook nobody has to contribute like nobody had to do anything this is our our reward to everybody we only have one rule you know whatever you put on your plate you eat and do not try to take to
Go plates before everybody else has had they feel you know what I’m saying like don’t be trying to come to the house early take plates to go early and we got people coming at 5: and you here at 10: a.m. no no no no that’s not how that
Works so that was only rules but we like to have people come over at least have the very first day of your year be spent with love joy happiness games food friends family you know just if if no day in your whole year go right you know you started your year off with
A good vibe so this year I want to start restart that tradition with you all I want to bring that I know I can’t bring the food to you guys but soul food mental food you know we can do you know food for the Mind food for the thought type things or
Whatever and stuff like that so I want to be able to fill each other’s plate like we fill each other’s plates with information um of how to be better where are we going with the new year you know what you guys got planned what great things
You have planned for your New Year’s I share what great things I have planned with ours we can keep each other accountable as a year goes by see how check in and see how we’re doing with these plans you know what I’m saying but I just really want to start this New
Traditions you can have as many ples as you want Elsa as long as you sit there and eat them all baby that’s all I’m trying to tell you I don’t want to see these little leftover plates while I’m cleaning up through my house I got to scream who plate this is

Y’all just really don’t get much love in my house because that’s just too much work and I’m just not that first in vegan food enough to do the proper shopping all the way through but your vegetarians I got you especially if you could still consume a little bit of
Cheese and all that stuff like that I got you some type of way the vegetarians we keep vegetables we got I usually do a you know a a veggie lasagna yeah and I don’t and and listen your girl make a hell of veg lasagna because I don’t like
Zucchini and what else do I put on there I don’t like it’s really just zucchini I don’t like but when I put it together baby I eat the zucchini in all child listen that’s how good I make make it to the point that I can eat it okay H even
The dirty rice I don’t like liver if I make it then I ain’t got to worry about it but my daddy making it he ain’t too on his kick listen to his D on siblings tell him go ahead throw more Li in it it’s good that way it turns out really
Good but oh black ey peas yes that’s another thing I eat on New Year’s Day you got the vegans El said okay well you come through you come through for the vegans baby black ey peas is another thing I don’t like but I got to go over
Here with my friend cuz she was making it for us today and now I’m going have to go over here and Doctor it up so I can like it okay so pray for me y’all because I got to get my I need all the luck okay I know I should not be really
Believing in this but this is the only day that I guess today is not a holiday last night was more of the holiday but today is the only day that I have this tradition that I actually kind of like really believe in some of this stuff um
A little bit like we eat the greens I love greens anyway so ain’t got to worry about that I know it’s supposed to be for money however as much as I eat greens I should feel like I should be like Beyonce Rich about now you know what I’m saying
Like somebody ain’t making my greens properly right I don’t know who it is it could be me I’m not sure somebody ain’t doing it right but I don’t believe in holidays so there’s that but today is one of those days that I love really just starting New Beginnings off
On a really high note and so I want to share that experience with you guys somehow so I’m starting it today going to make another live later on and stuff and so we will start the tradition today um and going forth being that I’m more than likely going to have my New Year’s

Empathetic and compassionate and patient enough to flow through the conversation with each other not to try to persuade to the other person to one side of the other but get a grand understanding of what side that person is on so I appreciate you all for being a part of it um I appreciate

Pieces so this particular one that I bought the other day I got it into three pieces so I cut one of the pie I season them all up and then I throw the other pieces in the freezer but because I’m coming over here to them I didn’t want
To take the one I already got cooked at home or whatever so I’m just G to cook another one when I get over here um and I put it in the Dutch oven so it can cook a little bit faster because generally I would do it um overnight on
Real low for six hours and like a little bread like a little brace um I got a particular way I do it I do a oven roast um brisket so I like my brisket juicy I don’t like dry brisket um I like the taste of smoke brisket but everybody can’t do it right
Everybody can’t do it right so I tend to marinate it throw in my um My Little My Trinity which is our Trinity for the south is not carrots okay baby do not put the carrots up in there that’s not the South Trinity that’s the Trinity for culinary that’s the culinary Trinity but
The southern Trinity is bell peppers onions and celery so that goes up in there in my pot while it’s roasting and a little bit of I put a little for me I put a little bit of vinegar because I like the little Tang plus it helps break down the fibers
And the protein and if you got you a nice little wine some red wine or whatever I tend to put that in there but today I’m using marinades because I don’t have any wine and I refuse to buy some just for this I’m G tell you now
Because I don’t like the taste of wine and I only use it to cook with to be honest and I should buy some so I can make some risotto I might but y stay in the house you making shrimp masal oh I love me a good Masala I love me a good
Masala I really do so we G to eat that um I’m see if I can get her in a better mood I may go live from over here I may wait till I come back home to do it I’mma work on my vision board this year um y’all prepared

I I’m tying it to Simone BS but I don’t feel like Simone was wrong in her covering but why do black women cover so much like we do excess covering for a lot of people and we want to discuss on why why is it that we do
This and I don’t want it to make it to be like you have to pick a side or you need to stop doing these things I just want to flush out the reasons as to why we feel in our hearts that we do some of
These things you know um why do we put ourselves out there for other people when sometimes in return we don’t get it what makes us so special that we do this you know what I’m saying I don’t want to shame anybody into feeling like don’t do
This ever again for anybody nor do I want to to Just Praise it and make it feel like everybody has to cover I just want us to really look at ourselves as what is so special and I don’t mean what is so special in the negative Contents I mean

Evolved with me um and again I just really appreciate you all you guys really have no idea like I just want to give all my thanks and so we’re starting this new tradition like I said we’re GNA be here every New Year’s as long as God permits from this
Point on we going to have a New Year’s Day Feast live okay um even if I’m in the middle of doing all my cooking for my family and friends that are there if I got to do it like that you know what I’m saying we gonna
Be live while I’m in the kitchen however it gets gonna get done I’m gonna get it done because I want you all in this with me so I don’t want to make it big y’all really don’t know this is the way I give back every New Year’s me and my family
We put our money together and we just go buy a bunch of food and tell everybody to come on and just spend from the morning you time you wake up breakfast is cooked okay breakfast is being cooked my daddy like to be up early that’s his
Time of the day he cook he do all the breakfast and I technically be cooking for the whole week because I be making all my dessert products during the week and then the night before new uh New Year’s Eve I tend to I tend to be doing my slow my slow roast
Thing so we smoke the turkey we’ll uh I’ll be cooking the brisket we get the salmon the salmon be on the day of or whatever but we get that going I get all my most of my big sides going and then prepare for the morning to start the
Gumbo because generally I cook gumbo on this day too so I’ll have everything else going the gumball will be my last thing and then I’ll be trying to clean up the house so I can just enjoy the party for with my friends and stuff um and then I got some family members they
Bring their little sides over um I kind of alleviated some of them like I do the greens and all that now so my auntie don’t do the greens no more but she bring her cheesecake and stuff so yeah we usually have like a really really big
Feast and that’s what I would be doing normally today but in lie of last minute changes of me making a final decision with the job that I had I’m free this year technically I will be at the at my job because my job is on the site of the
Rose Parade and so while y’all watching the Rose Parade I’m actually working to feed the people that are part of the parade and all this stuff like that during this day so generally I’m doing some type of way of where I’m giving back um so I say this
Year U not not size like that because but I be saying little because they don’t be bringing enough child I be having to add on to it my auntie going to make just enough she like here y’all work it out so it’s little size sometimes no shade to work cuz
Technically she the best green cooker I had to learn I learned her recipes so my greens is her greens technically so like she got she got her thing down my mom she throw down on her yams and her and my mom’s my mom’s specialty is a
Stuffing so that’s the next me me next best thing I got to get is her version of her stuffing because don’t nobody make it like my mom’s okay matter of fact I need a call her and if she made some cuz I need some so and no no no no
Shade to them or whatever but they little size don’t be the main thing okay baby that main thing be the gumbo baby all right that gumbo be that thing everybody come over for the gumbo or the Crawfish at tet okay so that’s really what it be everything else just be size
Even my brisket be a side baby but that brisket be that brisket be hting though you know I’m saying that brisk hit for you mashed turnips H I have to try to mash turnips I never had that you know what I like I like uh mashed potatoes with
Parsnips H I love that I feel like you don’t have to add anything I don’t even need gravy if the if it’s a good blend of the parch nips and mashed potatoes I don’t even be needing gravy and I’m a gravy girl okay so but yeah I’m here I’m about to pull
