Over- or under watered basil?

Neglected my basil over exams and it is looking nearly dead – is it still under watered or have I swung round to overwatering it?s

Brown spots on the leaves are from me not taking it in soon enough when the weather got cold

Btw yes I know that it’s kind of past saving in general – I’m just hoping to keep it alive long enough to get some new ones going from seed and maybe getting a cutting or two off it in the meantime
