I’ve been really enjoying my deens on rice lately but whenever I have a deens straight outta the can, I usually just pair it with crackers. What are y’all’s favorite carb to pair with your deens/fish? And if not a carb, what kind of side?

I’m here representing the Crusty Bread Commission.
Sour dough bread, avocado, anchovies
I love them on mashed potatoes or gnocchi.
Rice with soy and chili crisp
A nice firm rice. Something with a small grain and cooked firm so it absorbs the oil a bit. I hate when the grain is mushy and doesn’t soak in the oil.
sweet potato (hear me out.. the sweet + salty combo is SO good)
sourdough
rye crackers
soba noodles
Somebody here used nori sheets to make little tacos. I tried it but unfortunately mine were stale. It was still good enough to try again when I get more nori.

365 pita crackers from Whole Foods are literally the perfect sardine cracker BESIDES saltines. nothing is better than a sardine saltine with hot sauce. buy both of them
edit: toasted sourdough in evoo is the goat though

Random veg that is available in my fridge but I like pumpkin (usually sautéed using the olive oil from the tin) with sardines. The sweetness of the pumpkin goes well with the saltiness of the fish.
Bread and rice! Depends on the type of dish I’m wanting to make. Sometimes ill have bread for a more European style of snack and sometimes I’ll have rice for my Korean style snack all depends on my mood
I like toast and hummus with my Deens
Whole grain Wasa crackers.
