I had Interstellar BBQ, rated #1 bbq in Austin and #2 in Texas. On this platter, there’s brisket, pork ribs, peach tea glazed pork belly, pulled lamb shoulder, kielbasa sausage, among other side dishes.

Remember kids: *Always* get the free beans at Interstellar.

Interstellar is only one of many “top rated” BBQ joints in the area, there is no official #1 except for personal preference.
That being said, the smoked scallop potatoes alone are worth the trip.

I’ve been to Franklin’s in Austin. The brisket was so good I had to take a knee. Salt Lick in Driftwood was ok but is more tourist attraction than serious bbq. I’ve never seen so many busses at a restaurant in my life.
The east coast bbq scene is headquartered in Charleston, SC. Lewis’s is off the charts. He apprenticed at Franklin’s and started the whole Charleston bbq scene. On Saturdays you can get a beef rib the size of a dinosaur bone. Next for me is Rodney Scott Whole Hog bbq, but just a notch below Lewis’s in my book. Swig and Swine has a couple of locations there as well. The best smoked chicken wings I’ve ever had. It’s my first stop on my way in, 5 hours from my door to theirs. Makes for a nice long weekend getaway.

Lmao as somebody that lives in Austin. Interstellar is very overrated.

Genuinely want to visit Texas just to try the BBQ. Was talking to my fiancée about it the other night.

Pork belly was my favorite, so good, but in my humble opinion Terry Blacks does have a better brisket.
