I just got this small package of goat cheese from the food bank today. It expires tomorrow.

How do I eat it? Maybe just spread on crackers? It seems fairly soft.

I honestly don’t know if I’ve ever had goat cheese before!

On cracker sor toast is a great way to eat it! Pairs well with fruits, nuts and jams like cranberries, toasted walnuts, and marmalade. Love some goat cheese! 😉 enjoy

    Yes, it’s good on crackers.

I often melt it into pasta sauce or add it to rice. It would also be good added to mashed potatoes. Basically anything that could use a little extra creaminess.

Put on omelettes! I like to cook some chopped onion, tomato, and spinach in butter and then use as omelettes filling along with goat cheese.

I had a chicken dish at Bonefish Grill, with goat cheese, spinach and artichoke hearts. It was delicious.

You really can use it any way you would with any other soft cheese. Spread on crackers, toast, sprinkled in a salad, mixed into pasta, etc

It has cranberries and cinnamon in it, good melted on chicken or a fish like salmon. Or you could crumble it over some spiced cous cous.

I have this same brand at home! I like to eat mine with jam on a burger. It’s so good 😭 but not really budget friendly lol.

Freeze it until you can use it! Goat cheese freezes great.

Maybe i’m the oddball looking at these comments but I wouldn’t use the cranberry cinnamon variety with chicken, fish, or in pasta/potatoes! Putting it on crackers or a bagel or dolloped in oatmeal would be good. You could also bake a tart with it or put it on French toast.

I make crepes, heat up some frozen spinach with a bechamel sauce and nutmeg, put inside the crepe with the goat cheese, fry it up. Goat cheese is the most expensive part of that recipe. (This might be the wrong type of goat cheese for that as it seem to be flavoured)

I take pretzel crisps and just dip/spread on. Delicious. Especially with the sweet goat cheeses like this.

I doubt that it’s actually going to “expire” tomorrow. It should be good another week or two if unopened. You can always freeze it.

Make crepes. Mix the cheese with some jam and spread it on the crepes. Gourmet.

As it to a salad with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing and some strawberries.

I butterfly a chicken breast so it is a uniform thickness. Season the cut surface with onion powder, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Then create a layer with fresh (raw) spinach. Crumble the goat cheese over the top. Sprinkle with seasonings. (I usually buy seasoned goat cheese and skip this step.). Scatter julienned sundried tomatoes over the goat cheese. I buy them in oil and remove as much oil as possible. Roll the cutlet up and place seam side down in a baking dish. Season the outside of the roll with the onion and garlic powders. I also use paprika on the outside. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25 to 30 minutes. Slice and fan the spirals on your plate.

This also works subbing cream cheese for goat cheese. I soften the cream cheese and add my seasonings.

An expiration date of tomorrow, but could still be good for days

    Goat cheese freezes very well!

I’d consider a waffle, turn it sweet savory. Or top of a pancake.

Goes well on crackers, bagels, toast, and salads.

If you want a slightly different grilled cheese experience, I’ve found goat cheese can be a unique yet delicious alternative. I usually use plain goat cheese with a little red pepper flakes and honey to make a delicious sweet and spicy grilled cheese experience!

Some hash brown potato pancakes, with some fresh herbs, cumin and chili powder, makes for a really good base.

On a burger with some red pepper jelly and bacon.

Spread on crackers is a good option, yeah. I also like putting goat cheese in salads, pasta, sandwiches, etc, but I’m not sure that cranberry-cinnamon flavor cheese would be good for those things.

I love putting regular goat cheese on my scrambled eggs after they come off the stove, it gives the eggs a nice twang.

I’ve only eaten goat cheese a few times and it was grilled so it melted a little on toast with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and walnuts. It tasted amazing

With wheat thins and if you’re fancy some jam

  25. Undercover500

Small world, I live in Wisconsin and buy their cheese from their actual store. Anyway, I like to eat mine with crackers, I just put a portion on a plate and use wheat thins to scrape off what I want to eat.

That flavor would be good on wheat thins, or at least not strongly flavored savory crackers (avoid garlic flavor for example). All you need is a butterknife

Mixed in pasta is tasty, even cold as a pasta salad. You could spread it on crackers or bread, put some of it in a salad, use it in a sandwich. I really like goat cheese with honey or jelly, the tanginess of the cheese contrasts great with the sweetness of those items.

  28. LaFilleDuMoulinier

Toasted on bread in the oven for 10 minutes, with lettuce or any kind of green salad. You can even add a tiny bit of honey on top when you take it out of the over. We call it « chèvre chaud » in France and it’s one of the most popular salads in France

EDIT to add: it’s ok to eat goat cheese im to a week after it expires. Sometimes for evrn longer

  29. cancat918

Slice rounds of it, chill them well, wrap completely in puff pastry or crescent roll dough, brush with egg wash, and bake in the oven at 350F till golden brown.

Spread that bad boy on a bagel or fancy cracker. Mmmmmmm… #WisconsinMade

If you ever get the plain stuff (rather than sweet), try it mixed in scrambled eggs. Incredible.

  32. berksrwz

Wow lots of ideas!! Thank you.

I decided to put it in the freezer for now, but I’m thinking of trying it on crepes.

  33. FlyingTurkey

You can eat it straight up that way, on a cracker, make pizza with goat cheese, put it on a burger w/jam.

  34. Mountain-Ad-4539

Crumble on a salad. Add with other cheeses on Mac and cheese

  35. Green_Mix_3412

Salad, crackers, beets, its slightly sweet.
