We built a fence from invasive Mimosa (Acacia) in ONE Day and the builders arrived early!

If you’d like to know how we made the Churchkhela, check this episode https://youtu.be/FD9-iMrlzm4

Thank you for supporting our channel.

So the boots work quite well   for deterring the Javeli. (Wild Boar) However, we’re not really comfortable   relying just on a pair of boots to stop the  wild boar coming in and destroying our vegetable gardens.  So today we’re extending our fencing, building  a bit of a new fence out of some Mimosa which

Needs to come down because it’s invasive. Over here we’ve used some old doors and   some logs to close this part off. We’ve got Maggie and James here.  We’ve got one day to make  as much progress as we can.  Four people working on it. We’ll make some significant progress in a day.

We made the churchkhel back in September I think.  And here it is. We’ve saved it for Christmas.  Meraid is going to cut it and see what  it’s like and share it with our friends.  It’s done better than the beetroot! It’s still good. All right. So we got to find a bit

Of string in the middle? Mmm very good.  Mmm walnutty. And grapy juicy.  This is our last coffee with friends  on the Veranda in its current state. Does that look about ready? Well, we’ve done a fantastic amount of work today.  I didn’t actually think when we started  that we’d finish this fence today,   but we do have a finished fence. How long is it Meraid?  20 Metres. 20 Metres of fence in one day.

When I got the call last night that  works were going to start this morning,   I got up early, and I was over here ready. Well not quite on their tail, you know.  I thought well I’ll make a cup of coffee. Well Rui doesn’t take sugar and Davide does.

So I gave Rui his coffee and then I  gave Davide his – with sugar. After   a sip or two, he told me that I’d given him salt. Well you see that’s because Dan and I don’t really

Take sugar. We don’t take sugar at all, but we  had it here anyway just in case somebody else did.  So I threw it out. Rinsed out the cup and gave  him a second cup from a different container.  And you’ll never believe it, but  that container also had salt in it.

By this stage I had no more coffee left for  myself, so I made another cup of coffee found   another tub with sugar in it and only this time he  didn’t he didn’t let me do it, he did it himself. Anyway there you go, I started off  not exactly on the best footing.

Maybe not the start you were expecting  but this is really important, cuz this   is where our electricity and water will be going.  So eventually it’ll be clad  in schist so it won’t look so ugly. After three years of coming, no house yet.  Hopefully, next time. Bye Coming up next week the build starts.

  1. I saw another YT person take great care not to have the cut mimosa touching the soil at all as they said that is how it regrows from any cut piece and why it is so invasive. Sure you had considered that but chipping mimosa might be problematic ?

  2. I know the mimosas are invasive but I can imagine the lovely smell when they flower. Must be lovely. Good job on the boar fence😊
