May’s new Vegetable Garden
Chaing Rai Northern Thailand,

All down at the bottom of the garden May’s preparing this all the the seed beds she’s got down down at the very very bottom now those are all those are all growing she’s going to transplant those up into into veggie beds here so she’s getting ready for

That and these are coming up nicely whatever they are some kind of squash I think those are all the seed beds down there you’re going to transplant those up and and prick them all out as they say well Another Day in Paradise Feed the fish and to turn on the pump the aquaponics run off the solar system that’s why I I run it during the day it’s an upgrade so there’s batteries it I could run it 24 hours and sometimes I forget and I do look at these now look at these butternut

Squash they cracking on now once once they get established that’s it these this Water Crest oh m oh it’s beautiful thank you Steven and knock now then miss rasco’s coming up as well so I think now the fish are getting a bit bigger that they’re pooping more another veggie plot is on

With and whatever these are I don’t know what they are but whatever they they’re cracking on she’s having another Garden day today look at them Mist in the valley the village in the distance now then Steve says that I I do his blood pressure good with a walk around the garden well I’m

Happy about that Steve I’m happy I can show people a little sample of paradise a little bit of blissful retirement instead of like some people they just exist and wait to die in retirement now here there’s a mass oh I don’t know if this camera can pick this

Up there’s a massive spiders web and it’s full of of Jew drops I’m not going to disturb it he must have spent days making that look at look at these on the floor all different spiders looking for breakfast that bit of rain greened everything up did everything good now look at

This this tree here look at the size of that route and look this concrete slab this concrete slab is it’s it’s 200 mil 8 in thick number one road concrete and it it’s lifting it up the root is lifting that up and it’s lifted

It Up by oh a good 15 mil good half an inch the power of nature the power of nature I was once I once I once had to survey a school in Preston and uh there was a twostory classrooms uh on this this Annex brick built a cavity wall brick inside it

Would be brick inside brick outside it would have been because it was built in the uh early 50s and along the along the horizontal joints there was gaps like that like a an inch and a half 30 mil Gap where the entire floor had have been picked up and that was

Caused by the ties they they hold the two brick leaves together with had had rusted and it was the expansion of the rust that have picked an entire floor up of of classrooms absolutely unbelievable more more tamarinds here now this Tamarind you would think it’s exactly the same as

One on the garden but these are bitter and the ones on the garden are sweet now then boys and girls you’re sunning yourself poor Journey po journey journey journey she’s the one with a thin coat so it’s cool she suffers the most no no much to do as

Always as I said I haven’t got any I haven’t got any I’ll look up the top of the tree it’s a colored Sterling singing away I think I think he’s singing that tight sa’s not got any meal worms yeah that’s what he’s singing that I’ve ordered M of Lada they’re com in

Serious yeah he said I believ that one see it right so I have got some bananas out for the birds and uh yesterday I messaged Brian yesterday about the red build mik pies beautiful birds and uh and Brian said uh put some put some bananas out they might come down for

Them he said but they do feed uh more at dawn so I don’t know anyway I did put some bananas out and I’ll I’ll go and find the papaya around the guen i’ put that out and I’ve got I’ve got some got some other fruits I could perhaps open and put

Out I’ll cut open the uh passion fruits have pretty much finished there’s one here so clearly the soft bills can’t break into that fruit but you should smell that passion fruit it’s unbelievable if I open it up like that then the birds can get at the flesh so um they might might enjoy

That there’s another one here I’ll open that up and and another one here so we’ll uh I’ll put these at the other bird feeding station and see if they’ll uh if they’re interested oh there’s a chipmunk running along the wall and bounding up into the trees he’ll be after fruit right

So the birds have been done for these bananas they’ve been picking up those so just just open that passion fruit up they might they might take it they might not I don’t know I’ve not put passion fruit out for them before no then I can never never remember what this this knobbly thing

Is never remember its name jff figs is doing okay and this is one of John Harrison’s grapefruits so I dispatched another couple of those hurry caterpillars yesterday I showed them to me w oh she said jip Mac hurt touched them and it’s yeah here itching and burning there’s one that I dispatched I

Hate absolutely hate killing anything but if the little lad a little lad saw and crawling about you know he’s a 2-year-old and they they’d got to pick them up wouldn’t they and then he’d be he’d be really hurting so and I don’t want them I don’t want them eating my uh my plant

Right those those sea trays are out Pinos tamarillos and butternut squash hoping that the warmth of the sun energizes those seeds at these These are cherry tomatoes with flowers on so we need we need the bees to come and stru the [Applause] stuff May’s been harvesting broccoli

Again and I just can’t get her I just can’t get her she works like a trooper in the garden but I just just can’t get her to put this in the compost bin but when my compost is ready she’ll be in there like a rat up a drain those little fiery Rascals oh

Well all right couple of papayas forming perel love Them well it’s January the 19th I don’t know what you think but the days half bouncing on those leaves in the Compost look at this this is some kind of squash Vine I think but it it’s oh I don’t know what it is it’s something but look it winding its way around that bamboo I don’t know what they are look like giant peep pods M know what they are well almost almost get

On I hope Steve that your blood pressure is suitably lowered and uh I might get the big camera out and see if I can catch few of those birds in the tree off the balcony CU I can see loads flying in and out of that Tamarind Tree and Ma told me

She she’s going to PO out it when when it’s finished fruiting this year um so but I’ll be on hand to supervise that they’re not cutting too much off it it’s a beautiful tree that that shrub the first shrub on the lawn I can see my little friend in there

The little Asian Robin and his mates on the lawn there and uh I know what they’re saying think come on where’s the meal worms it’s breakfast time what are you playing at well hopefully tomorrow Lads bye-bye for now look at these jack fruit loads of baby ones some more big ones up

There some crumpers as I say we

  1. Yes, very relaxing, thank you Gordon, have you noticed an increase in birds from when you first set up the trees and garden ?

  2. Blood pressure gratefully lowered. I like listening to you very much. You're happy where you are, and most farang with YT channels are not happy. You know your subject and teach without lecturing. And as I said, you sound like a hobbit. That's the voice that allows you to describe your woman as a "rat up a pipe" and the listener understands that it's said with love. I give this channel a 10 out of 10.

  3. Yeah.. it's Paradise alright BUT DONT LET HER EAT FROM THE APPLE TREE. You know what happens then 🙂 Snakes go crazy etc.
    Thanks for the tour!

  4. Steve introduced me to your channel. I'm glad he did. You've got a beautiful piece of land, and it appears you are doing your best by it. Good luck. I'll make no more comments until I've had a chance to go through your archives so I know a little bit about your story/background. In the meantime, stay healthy and happy.
