Dough is doing this instead of sticking to dough hook. Any advice?

Update: I just didn’t Believe enough. After another few minutes in the stand mixer it fixed itself haha.
Update to update: as if the bread gods were listening, it promptly unfixed itself 🙁

That might be a little too small for the mixer bowl, but you could try switching to the paddle attachment in a situation like that.

Btw there is a bowl height adjustment for these things. You should look into that too.

Add more flour, a tablespoon at a time.
Edit to add: how did you measure the flour? That looks wetter than 1/2c water and 1/3c yogurt. Maybe the added melted butter has slackened it too much if you are sure you added correct amount of flour.

If this is a high hydration dough you can try with the paddle instead of the dough hook, in my kitchen aid it works way better than the hook.

High hydration dough and I discovered after I upgraded to a larger kitchenaid mixer that my old attachments were useless and looked about like this with a 1kg dough. Maybe you’ve got the wrong size hook?

Probably just need to adjust the height of the beater. All you need is a flat head screwdriver:
With very high hydration doughs in the mixer I’ll hold out 10-20% of the water to let things develop, then add the rest of the water at the end

I would check your height and adjust it

As others have said you can adjust the height of the beater. Kitchenaid recommends you put a dime at the bottom of the bowl with the beater on and turn it on 1. If the dime moves a bunch every rotation it’s too low, if it doesn’t move at all it’s too high.

Also would add that it looks like it’s moving a little fast. I just got a new kitchenaid stand mixer and the dough hook had a little tag that said “don’t go above speed 2”

Stop the mixer, grab the dough out and glob it on the hook then start the mixer before the dough can fall off. You probably want to go at speed 1 or 2

I just manually stick the dough to the hook and it usually doesn’t end up at the bottom again.
